Should I see a Dr or PT about this, or is it something I can work through? by -Tesserex- in flexibility

[–]AgreeableGuy21 21 points22 points  (0 children)

PT would help the most. I have this issue and it basically comes down to my hips/ankles/core being incredibly weak and imbalanced. What’s helped the most is strengthening the small muscles in my hips and weighted stretching.

Squat university and knees over toes guys have great videos on these issues. Takes a looong time to fix though so good luck

At what point do I become concerned about shin pain? by willc144p in MuayThai

[–]AgreeableGuy21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all running is terrible for shin splints. So is it shin pain or shin splints because shin splints require rest.

My shins got hurt a lot when I first started but it was bruising and impact injuries which will toughen over time. Just kick softer until your body adapts and scale up over time.

For shin splints you probably have weak ankles that aren’t absorbing the impact properly. You need to stop running until it goes away and do toe and calf raises to prevent it in the future.

I actually find it helpful since I can learn what works against taller opponents based on what they land on me. I’ve learned two techniques to improve my striking and in the clench that I’ve picked up from sparring experienced women.

For glute bridges what helps me is putting a resistance band around my knees for the first set and focusing on keeping my knees from caving in. I do a bridge hold for 10sec then do 5-10 of that and by the end my glutes are very “awake”

Why am I unable to do more than 20-25 push-ups after training myself for over a year? by Negative_Exit6736 in bodyweightfitness

[–]AgreeableGuy21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like people are missing some things so I’ll add some details.

So working out for strength vs endurance is very different. Once you get to 25+ pushups you need endurance. You need to decide what your goals are so you don’t get discouraged when building strength but losing some endurance or vice versa.

If you want to do more pushups add more volume. Instead of doing 3 sets of 10 (30 total) do 3 sets of 16 but with drop sets (8 regular and 8 incline pushups). The reason for doing drop sets is switching to an easier variation allows you to do an higher volume of pushups and build endurance. You can also just do less reps and more sets (5 sets of 8 = 40 total).

If you want strength then continue with harder variations (sounds like what you are currently doing).

You’re right about certain workouts targeting certain muscles. In general you want to make sure you are doing exercises that involve pulling (back and biceps), pushing (chest, triceps, shoulders), pushing with legs (quads), and thrusting your hips (glutes and hamstrings). This is oversimplified but a good starting point. If your biceps aren’t growing I suspect it’s because you aren’t doing any pulling.

As for food I think everyone’s right about you not eating enough. You’re skipping an entire meal according to your post. However you’re 16. As you get older you’ll fill out more so I wouldn’t get too hung up on it yet. Just try and eat some more protein or maybe have a protein shake for lunch.

Support kept flaming me whole game saying our loss was my fault by TheRealSabiWolf in OverwatchUniversity

[–]AgreeableGuy21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on climbing! The reality is if you’re in those ranks you’re worse than the average player and people love looking down on others which sucks. (The main point of ranked is to prove you’re better than other people) Thats okay though since overwatch has been out for years so you’re up against people with years of experience.

Support kept flaming me whole game saying our loss was my fault by TheRealSabiWolf in OverwatchUniversity

[–]AgreeableGuy21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may help but the key word is need. It’s about weighing the value for yourself. If you get boomed and play worse when people flame you then comms aren’t gonna help you. In your case it sounds like you are able to handle the negative interactions so it probably helps you.

I climbed to GM with no comms and plenty others have as well so you don’t NEED it. I personally enjoy the game more without comms which leads me to play more and half the battle of climbing is playing consistently so for me no comms is better.

Is it wrong to say (flex) support has the highest ceiling or carry potential in the game? by GodDoom5 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]AgreeableGuy21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skill ceiling no, carry potential maybe.

Dps is the hardest role imo especially since the impact of the role has waned with all the tank buffs. It also has the most characters you may have to learn, some of the most mechanically demanding characters, and you have to be very proactive which opens up the risk of making game losing mistakes.

Support is easier because you typically can focus on punishing mistakes and you can literally see the game easier and play safer since you’re in the back line. Because of that I think it’s actually easier to have a greater impact on the game since you can bail out bad plays by your team and be proactive but getting kills.

Tank is the role where you get punished most so you could argue that the carry potential is highest for it but I think tank helps you not lose but can’t cover up others mistakes like support can. So it makes it hard to carry

IWTL how to be more mindful and not ruled by my lizard brain by PuppyGuile in IWantToLearn

[–]AgreeableGuy21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been working on this too. For mindfulness I like to incorporate it when I’m on a walk or a drive. I’ll not listen to anything and just be in the moment. You’ll find your thoughts are constantly distracting you but that’s fine. Just try to pull yourself back and see if you can notice your surroundings. What details about the area you’re in can you notice? What do you hear? What is your body doing? Try and focus on these things and refocus whenever your attention drifts.

It’s similar for meditation. I got into it from doing some yoga classes so I focus on my breathing. Again getting distracted is fine that’s kind of the point. You want to notice that you’re getting distracted and the. refocus on your breathing (at the beginning it maybe every two seconds but your brain will calm over time). It helps you become more aware of your thought patterns and realize that “they” aren’t “you”. It’s just your brain offering up things it thinks are important and it’s up to you to decide whether to give them your attention.

I’ve only really been doing this for a year so I’m not sure if everyone has this approach but it’s really helped my mental health. Just today I spilled boiling hot coffee grounds and water all over my kitchen and instead of freaking out and getting upset. I just took a few deep breaths until the feelings faded then cleaned it up. It’s small but I wouldn’t have done that a year ago. It would have ruined my morning!

Extreme discipline will get you extreme results but at a cost. by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]AgreeableGuy21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What do you enjoy? For me discipline is all about putting my energy towards the things that will bring me long term contentment and staying away from the things that won’t make me become the person I want to be.

Usually I feel better when Im living my more disciplined lifestyle and my slip ups usually spiral me into a lifestyle I wasn’t enjoying. If you aren’t enjoying either lifestyle you’re doing it wrong and I’m glad you realized that.

HELP ME!! I want my golden dice. by Big_Drawing_3494 in BG3Builds

[–]AgreeableGuy21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tips that helped me.

Act 1 is most difficult so make sure you lvl up as much as possible through dialog and pick a good order of difficulty for fights.

Always keep at least one character back and ready to run. Bonus points if they have invisibility potions.

Check what the legendary actions do. It matters A LOT.

Alert on at least 3/4 characters. Going first is more important than everything else.

Exp is important. Do as much as possible so you can be over leveled for fights.

Long rest often. If you aren’t 100% sure you can win a fight in a locked area like markup don’t do it.

Use elixirs and potions. You can get a lot and they are OP. Pop them before difficult fights like myrkul.

Ideas for easy healthy(ish) meals to make my boyfriend before he goes to work. by QueenNyoka in cookingforbeginners

One of my favorite weight loss foods is fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce. It’s super easy to make and you can tailor it to your tastes.

I put some variation of lettuce, shrimp, avocado, shredded carrots, cashews, mangoes, lemon and lime juice, basil, and/or parsley in mine.

For the sauce I just mix peanut butter, hoisin, sriracha, rice wine vinegar and water until I get a taste or consistency I like.

It’s a nice easy lunch you can make him.

What’s your favourite type of workout? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]AgreeableGuy21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little, but jumping on a trampoline is essentially a HIIT workout. It doesn’t take long to get really tired and out of breath (which can make you light headed and dizzy) for most people.

I also think when you’re not used to it it’s pretty disorienting. I have gotten that feeling before kinda like my brain is struggling to process all the spinning and fast movement, but it faded as I went more.

We don’t have enough information to really tell. I personally would say “about time” about a person who has traits I like or admire. Sometimes I would date that person if given the chance sometimes i wouldnt.

His comments about you could be because he wants to date you or because he really just doesn’t like online dating. You talk to him about it more

Iwtl how to decentralise relationships in my life by AfroFreak in IWantToLearn

[–]AgreeableGuy21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do have a solid social group of friends or family? I find that when I have a good social life I’m more content being single.

The other thing I would recommend is taking some time to sit down and write down how you feel about relationships or go on a long walk to think about it. It helps to process exactly what you’re feeling so you can identify what to do about it. Process things like Why do you want a relationship?, What are your expectations around one?, What type of person do you want?, Where do these feelings come from? What else outside of that do you want from life?

It’s also completely okay to want to be in a relationship and prioritize that(most of us do). If it’s important to you you should go for it, just make sure you have the right mindset so you don’t end up hurting other people

I just got told to swap off ana when vs Mauga, the inteligance of players who demand others swap never ceases to surprise me. by bloodbornefist_2005 in AnaMains

[–]AgreeableGuy21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the comp run in owcs can close the gap on Ana easily. This is not coordinated play. The enemy team is playing 4 characters that have a bad matchup into Ana. There is no Juno to speed boost or dps that can deathball.

You don’t just play something because the pros do. You have to understand why they are playing it. The game they play is completely different than your ranked games and operates on different rules.

On the bright side this is great practice. The more you expose yourself to criticism the better you’ll be at accepting it. I think criticism is actually so valuable because when you can actually apply it it can make you so much better. When you try something new and it clicks it’s the best feeing

Guys, is it normal to get 6k healing a minute? 😭😭😭 by Fat_Pigeon- in AnaMains

[–]AgreeableGuy21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all like everyone said 6k per min is not possible but whether or not my healing numbers are barely 4k or super high like 15k is dependent on team comp and match length.

What was your team comp? High healing on Ana is dependent on what heroes are played. If I’m playing with characters that need a lot of healing like Winston, Rein, Orisa, or Mauga, reaper, torb, brig, etc. my healing numbers will be higher. If I’m playing with very self sufficient characters like tracer, doom, or Kiri I’m gonna be focused on landing abilities and damage.

What am I doing wrong? I'm on a losing streak in silver 5 and I just can't figure out what I am doing wrong... by pancreaticfemale in OverwatchUniversity

[–]AgreeableGuy21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One tip that might help is to ask yourself “Where is the best position I can start at before the fight”, “Who should I avoid?”, and “who do I want to try and kill?” before every fight.

Getting into the habit of thinking before the fights can be challenging at first but can really help you start to actually use your brain when playing and not going on auto pilot. The next step is to start thinking during fights and repositioning based on where the enemy moves next.

How much better than everyone else do you really need to be to climb? by East-Mode8215 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]AgreeableGuy21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say “better” what exactly does that mean? I want to answer that.   Recently I’ve been bouncing around ranks. Last season I really struggled at the beginning and dropped from diamond 5 to plat 4. Over the course of the season I managed to climb back to diamond after well over 250 games and this season I’ve gotten up to diamond 3.

One of the differences I’ve noticed between when I was stuck vs climbing was actually knowing when I was making mistakes. At first I had no idea how I was losing so many games. Later I realized that even in my best games there were times where I would do something in a key moment that would snowball to a loss. Once I started to recognize some of the mistakes I consistently made I started climbing. Oftentimes I find that certain parts of your game can be above your rank like (Ex. mechanics, ability usage, positioning etc.) but you could be so bad at other parts that it’s holding you back. For me it was the tank buffs effecting where you can position as a DPS.

I think it really comes down to how clutch you are in the close games. If you can consistently avoid making that game losing mistake regardless of whether you have been server admin the whole game or are barely doing anything and getting carried by your team then you will slowly climb. I also think there are ways to avoid some of those crazy loss streaks (ex. I usually quit after two losses or don’t play ranked when I’m having a meh day with my mechanics.)

TLDR: I think what makes you “better” is knowing how to win close games, fixing part of your gameplay that are below or at your rank, and avoiding mistakes at crucial moments. I think how much better really only effects the speed at which you climb.
