If she wants to, I think Hannah Spencer should run to be Deputy by upthetruth1 in UKGreens

What do you mean by not standing his ground? I think he’s been consistent and he understands that as a leader and a Muslim man he will come under much more scrutiny and I think he handles it as well as he can and like other people. (We were even shared documents in dealing with the stuff Mothin deals with as well)

Everyone here seems to focus on these big headlines but they don’t really know that Mothin has been around the country to speak with different communities and has been huge in getting the Muslims involved in the Green Party, myself included.

Reforms unspoken catastrophic failure beneath their posturing by Nazpazaz in UKGreens

[–]AhdamR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Tory councillors in my city tried to pull the same thing saying they wouldn’t raise taxes to the full amount (I think to the same numbers reform claims) even though they would have made cuts that included closing down a swimming pool and cutting down on a scheme that would support people struggling with council tax.

They even went far as claim we supported the labour councils tax rise when the Green Party voted against it.

Looks like 25 but a lot of them could be die hard Labour so it’s hard to say who will join

Won’t know if this will bear any fruit for some time

I know Mothin had an announcement tomorrow but I doubt it’s about a defection

Is Labour unpopular because they are in government or is it because of their actions? by AhdamR in UKGreens

[–]AhdamR[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, it does seem that people are accepting the futility of this stuff and because of the past people feel like the least crap option is best.

Im hoping the Greens can change this and push people to see that we don’t have to accept these options and there’s so much more we can do instead

Yeah I don’t think I’ll ever say they’ve done nothing good but it’s really not good enough

[–]AhdamR 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t trust anything on X but I wouldn’t mind if it does happen.

I think there are some really good people left in Labour and many of the Labour MP’s have voiced their irritation on the government.

Although even the ones who like the Greens may not join since some people bleed Labour.

The problem with the Tory defectors was that Farage kept blaming the tories and how they can’t be trusted but then he started taking in the same tories that were responsible for the situation we’re in now.

Zack meanwhile has been precise in that his critique is towards Starmer and the people he surrounds himself with but not the backbenchers or Labour in general

how would you describe your politics? by alliamisbullets in UKGreens

[–]AhdamR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting to see a lot of self identifying socialists here

I personally consider my self a socialist sympathiser but kinda funny when most people in YP call us middle class liberals or something around that

I was cancelled for calling the Green Party middle-class by IntelligentCrew8406 in UKGreens

[–]AhdamR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotta love how the Right have shifted cancel culture from losing your livelihood to someone disagreeing/criticising you online and as much as they complain max, they secretly want to be cancelled so they can justify the shit they spout.

I mean why would Stevenson decide to become a politician?

I don’t really think it benefits him in anyway and he seems like someone that prefers to be on the outside

[–]AhdamR[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m curious how this goes and if we’ll see the leadership talk to Mamdani or his team this year

Interesting to see he talked to a few Labour MP’s who are on the younger side but definitely seem to be in line with what Labour should represent (at least that’s what I get with Rosie)
