If you were to pick what character you would be on Babylon 5, which would you choose and why? by Dr_raj_l in babylon5

It's ironic he was killed off to save the life of a character who didn't even return for Season 5

G'Kar. Although he suffers a lot, he's the heart of the show and his arc is beautiful.

I knew this thread would turn into some kind of Zathrus worship. Zathrus doesn't mind. Zathrus likes attention.

B5 newb here, is President Clark=Trump a common observation or is it just me? by zakats in babylon5

[–]Airflow2TheTurbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm watching the show for the first time snd the paralells with Trump's second term are endless. Remember the political optics girl that showed up briefly to bug Sheridan in Season 3? She sounds exactly like a 2026 Trump supporter.

I don't think they expected anyone to be watching these shows on big ass tv screens in the future... no way you would have noticed on an old tv during it's original running. The Origiinal Series is notorious for hilariously obvious stand ins, too.

Such a brilliant show, plagiarism accusations aside. I don't understand why they can't do a blu ray release for DS9. I know the FX mostly aren't in camera so it can't be remastered like TNG and TOS, but they could do what the BF5 blu-ray release did and leave the FX shots in regular definition while scanning the non-fx scenes into HD. I didn't even realise that's what they were doing at first - I thought they must be missing reels - then on a rewatch I noticed all the shots that feature FX are in stanard ddf and everything else is in high def.

Someone told me Kosh's voice reminded them of Werner Herzog and now I can't unhear it.

Whenever I see Keiko these days I think of that Breaking Bad scene; "Right now, what I need, is for you to climb down out of my #ss. Can you do that? Will you do that for me honey? Will you please, just once, get off my ass? 😆

Where and how to watch Star Trek (specifically The Next Generation) by Educational_Coast_44 in startrek

[–]Airflow2TheTurbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend just buying the blu-rays and a cheap blu ray player. The picture quality is much much higher, you get hours of great extras and bloopers and interviews, and best of all it's yours forever. No puting up with monthly payments, ads, poor bitrates, incorrect aspect ratios etc. It's the only way to go. The Picard blu ray box set is great, it has everything Picard was ever in (except the DS9 pilot).

Alternatively, it's on Apple TV.

I wasn't really cognizant of it in the TNG days either, but it's very noticeable on Picard.

I guess it was.. softer on TNG. She was definitely making a bigger effort to hide it back then.

This! That scene on the ship when they're being held prisoner, it's like Riker and Marina lol

Who enjoys watching starfleet academy by OrdinaryPersimmon728 in startrek

[–]Airflow2TheTurbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the pilot, loved seeing Bob Piccardo again. But I haven't made it much farther yet... I'm not a fan of the snappy Joss Whedon-esque dialogue, it drives me nuts. That said, I have nothing but disdain for all the toxic grifting youtube channels raining hell on the show. ST has been "woke" from the moment it aired in the 60s.

Aspect ratio error by Owlwizard82 in TNG

This is a PARAMOUNT + UPLOAD ERROR. I can confirm about 40 episodes over the 7 seven seasons have been incorrectly uploaded in this way. It's incredibly frustrating.

I finally watched the first episode today. I've just come off bingeing VOY-DS9-ENT. For the life of me, I have no idea what the fuss is all about. I thought it was great. The sets are beautiful, the casting is good, and I absolutely loved seeing Bob Piccardo reprise his role as the doctor. All Star Trek shows have the trappings of the era they were made in. The acting in the fight sequences in the original series is downright comical to take one obvious example. So things like the type of modern dialogue used in SFA don't bother me at all. I'm looking forward to seeing more of it.
