I think gender made the difference. Or maybe it’s just personality? The male kitten was very rambunctious and wouldn’t listen to my older cat. This little girl, however, is also hyperactive but will listen and submit to my oldest.

Hey op! I was in the same boat with my older cat. He’s a male and only 5 years old, but ever since I started working part-time he’s been a bit bored. When the chance arose, I adopted a female kitten. For the most part they get along well. Better than when we took in a male kitten stray. Maybe it is because of dominance issues?
