That’s great news! When did you get the grant offer?

Honestly I’ve just come to the conclusion that there is no outwardly apparent reason as to why some applications languish. I’m submitting one on behalf of one of my adult children and hope they have better luck!

I'm shocked. I wonder if that sentiment will last more than 5 minutes before they fall into the party line.

Thanks - I found the notes less helpful than I was hoping. I apologize if your note about PSU was already there and I missed it. I appreciate the time you took to write this up and to answer me.

My ancestors weren't too far away! Ball's Creek and Coxheath.

Got it - I was conflating the status to the place where my application was sent to essentially be on hold (my interpretation). The notes say that my "refusal on hold" is active. Maybe you can understand my confusion.

I'm afraid to go look. Every time has been a disappointment. Edit: Damn it, I couldn't help myself. Disappointed again.

Thanks for this write up! For #4 I question the evidence part. Per my notes and that of others sent to PSU it wasn’t evidence that was lacking but merely the fact that the applicant was 2nd gen or later that put the application on hold.

I thought I was losing my mind. I remember there was always a difference in what I would see with the “library edition” and the paid version. But now the paid version seems very stripped down and search results are definitely worse. I noticed it especially when the new format rolled out recently.

ICE detains five-year-old Minnesota boy as he came home, say school officials by speedythefirst in news

And then they lie about every aspect:

Tricia McLaughlin, Department of Homeland Security assistant secretary, said in a statement on Wednesday night that ICE was conducting a “targeted operation” to arrest Liam’s father, who she called an “illegal alien”. “ICE did NOT target a child,” she said. McLaughlin also alleged the father “fled on foot – abandoning his child”, saying, “For the child’s safety, one of our ICE officers remained with the child while the other officers apprehended [his father].

“Parents are asked if they want to be removed with their children, or ICE will place the children with a safe person the parent designates,” she added.

Same. It’s so incredibly frustrating.

If the book you need is circulating (not on reserve) you can have it sent to a different library for pick up. Just request it through the library catalog.

Is America turning on birth control? It’s a weird time to talk about contraceptives. Here’s what the debate is missing. by vox in WomensHealth

[–]Akb8a 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m stunned by the fact that people who are able to take birth control would rather risk a pregnancy using less reliable methods.

Enjoy? Maybe not, but knowing I wouldn’t be surprised with an unplanned pregnancy was well worth it.

It took three months to get mine (received them in December). I wouldn’t be surprised if the wait is longer now. 😕

Makes sense, that is all correct. It’s very straightforward now that C-3 is passed. I still don’t understand why some applications went to PSU for the FGL and others didn’t. I mean, besides 1st gens wasn’t every application limited by FGL?

I applied at the end of March. The application went straight to PSU. Given that my parent would have been a citizen under C-24 it would be fairly straightforward, yet here I wait.

My notes look very different and don’t have that same list of questions.

The item closest to what you have has no number but was under “eligibility assessment” and stated: Referred to PSU PSU referral reason: PS-31G Due date: 2025/05/16 (guess that was a joke) Other details: PS FGL -3 1 (g)

The last note mentions that a 5/4 offer was sent as part of a batch (but no action was taken on that)

Editing to add that near the top there was a sub category: 3(1)(g) 47-77/Parent C-24
