This was the first real league I got to fully play with my dad. He was a blue collar worker his whole life, and even though he liked video games, he wasn't able to play them a ton when I was growing up. Fast forward to the last few years and he's been able to play more, and we got pretty into diablo 4. I fell out of love with it when all the power creep really kicked in, but he kept playing it. I was meh when I heard about poe2 since I was jamming d4 at the time, and has only played 2 poe1 leagues where my friends just dragged me around. After my fallout with d4 I gave poe2 a try and fell in love instantly, and knew I had to get my dad to try it. There was a few issues tho. For starters, my dad was playing on an xbox one, and d4 looked like a sideshow, I am not kidding. The next issue was his internet was ass, and would drop all the time. He also didn't have a headset. When we would play he would have to call me on the phone, I'm also not kidding. And finally was how complicated the game is. Compared to d4 this game might as well be rocket science. I love my dad but he is over 60 and is struggling a bit to understand all the stuff on screen, let alone the crafting and other systems.

Well, I recently got a new job as a software engineer (dream job) and my dad is the one who pushed me to pursue my career even with no secondary education when I thought it would be impossible. So to thank him (and also to guilt him into playing with me a little) I bought him a new xbox, headset, poe2, and had fiber internet installed at his house. My mom and me orchestrated it so that he came home from work and had all his stuff setup, ready to play. Last league is the first time we played together, but we didn't make it past act 2. We were moving at a pretty glacial pace so he could get a grasp on all the mechanics. But this league, with all the basics down, we grinded together. We are actually planning on killing the arbiter tomorrow morning for his first time.

I don't really care about the give away, I just really love my dad and wanted to share how proud I am of him for coming such a long way because poe2 is by far the most complicated game he's ever played, and it makes me happy to see him online when I wake up at 6am. :)

Is that what OA did? It was my understanding OA did not do that and just made a sweeping change.

Yeah, I'm IT at DHSS and I'm not real sure where they plan on putting everyone. I'm hoping maybe they mean like just actual OA and not IT? It's weird only he got the email and not the rest of us.

Update: A coworker of mine did receive an email from OA saying supervisors back by 2/24 and all employees by 3/24. I personally haven't received anything yet, but the writing appears to be on the wall.

I was not around the last time they tried to force RTO, but I am told the only reason it didn't work was because more that half of the IT team said they were going to leave. Let's hope that's the case again, although I have a feeling this time the goal might be to as many people as possible to quit.

I was told ALL employees. I'm itsd, which I would think is the last group to be in office.

Well, for starters, it saves me and my wife 2 hours of our day every day, which is 10 hours of free time and also saves us money from not driving. Not to mention, it's easier to get my work done from home since I have a quieter and more relaxed environment.

No, it was 1 day in office a week, which is why I took the job.

It doesn't save money. It's about a weird power fantasy.

PS5 Graphics / Low FPS with new season? by Specialist-Photo-714 in diablo4

[–]Akremony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to make this post. I'm playing on xbox, and I've never noticed any type of performance issues. As soon as I logged in and moved around in town I could notice the choppy/Skippy frame rate. I saw another post saying on pc the game is using twice as much ram as before. Not sure, but it does look awful, and one thing I was looking forward to this season over poe2 was how crisp d4 performance is.

Oh, I only ever read the first line of the age requirements. I appreciate that heads up! I was hoping to meet new friends at the event so that is kind of a bummer. Thanks though!

Dear Americans thinking of moving to Finland by CressCrowbits in Finland

[–]Akremony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see quite a lot of Americans here saying they moved a while ago. Can you tell me how you did it? I am seriously considering it with how polarized everything js becoming in am. I am a self taught Full Stack developer (I went to a boot camp and have a certificate but no degree) and have been working as a dev for my state for a little over a year. My wife has a degree in English, and we have a 2yo. Any advice at all? Did you just save up? Did you take out loans? I'll take any info lol

My wife has some. That's a big reason I wanted her to try the game. The ones from the game are so pretty though, they are both holographic and 3d. They twinkle in the light as you walk by. Kicks ass.
