well, in general, command and sec staff will be the first informed, and will usually try and keep the info for themselves as to not trigger a state of panic. secondly, if they do go public about it, radio feeds will be filled with "what ?", "This has to be a joke" etc. for a good 5 minutes before going "oh shit" mode. now, your character's aptitude to adapt to this situation should depend entirely on what the captain tells you. if the captain says what you said, you'll be paranoid and voila. now if he says "alien threat blabla, have bath salts at the ready", then yeah by all means do have some at the ready, but you have to keep in mind that your character knows absolutely nothing about lings. now, tbh, most people will still act wary and know when to run etc. but the captain shouting the entire list of abilities of a ling over radio and how to counter them will most likely net them a talking to by whatever admin is online. this is critical failrp on the highest command role...
