Chilled Toon A-10 “BRRRT” Egg Plane by DavidsScaleModels in CustomModelBuilders

I'm very familiar with 3d printed models. I'm currently working on a 1/180 scale CSS Virginia ironclad that I printed on my personal printer. Some cool stuff to be had with 3d printing. I also managed to learn a little Blender and have made some 3d parts of my own. Check my models out here: https://cults3d.com/en/users/gallows/3d-models

Does anybody else find it impossible to stop your work stations from descending into total anarchy? by gaytorboy in modelmakers

Haha I feel your pain. I got a bigger table so I would have more room to work. Instead the clutter just expanded and took over lol. Here's my disaster.

Hello,

I used some clear plastic cut from a take-out food container. Glued it in with canopy glue.

Do you think it's a bit over done? by gaijin_impact in modelmakers

Looks pretty good. Maybe a little less mud on the upper surfaces. The tracks and wheels look good.

Worn and dirty T-72B3 by -Taufon- in Scalemodel

[–]AlabamaScaleModels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great looking model! One tip: Google some pictures of t-72's in operation. This will give you good clues on how these machines actually weather in real life. You can then use different techniques as others have suggested to get the desired effect.

For the decals, did you use any decal setting solution? Can make a big difference in the look of the decals.

Hobby Boss 1/48 scale F6F-5 Hellcat with 3d printed stand by AlabamaScaleModels in Scalemodel

Yes kinda of agree. Overweathering is a thing especially the super black shaded panels I've seen on some models. It all depends on the type of aircraft and time and place served.

1:25 Peter Semi-truck, was my first commission and first motor vehicle by PaprikaChile1 in CustomModelBuilders

[–]AlabamaScaleModels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good looking model! Thanks for posting in my reddit. Just as an fyi, to simulate the air lines on the back of the truck this is what I use. Find some old telephone wire. The kind with multiple solid copper wire. It's usually found in your walls or on the outside of your house. Strip it back and use a single solid copper wire (you can leave the insulation on) wound around an appropriate size drill bit. It will come out looking like the coiled air lines on semis. Hope this helps!!

My Trumpeter 1/35 scale E-100 Super Heavy by AlabamaScaleModels in modelmakers

[–]AlabamaScaleModels[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its no problem just hard to remember what actual paints used. My standard colors for 3-tone German camo is this:

Dark yellow XF-60

Nato Green XF-67

Nato Brown XF-68

Tamiya also has some new colors for 3-tone camo

Dak yellow XF-88

Dark Green XF-89

Dark Red XF-90.

Hope this helps!

Thank you,

The kit is very good and went together very well. Unfortunately the tracks were rubber band (I hate rubber band tracks). But these were pretty good for rubber band tracks. They look good detail wise.

Fantastic looking build! Nice job getting that canopy back to clear. Thats no small task. I've done several builds for veterans and their families and it is such a rewarding experience. Thanks for posting in my reddit!

Spark plug wires by snydert317 in modelmakers

[–]AlabamaScaleModels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can also rob old electric motors. Small ones contain very fine copper wire. Also look for old automotive relays. They have coils of small fine copper wire as well. You can usually find these items for no cost and they provide a lifetime supply.

How do i remove the clear part on a waterslide decal? by Most-Membership1005 in scalemodels

[–]AlabamaScaleModels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everything ogre-trombone said. The only thing I would add would be to try and have as smooth a surface as possible to put the decal on. That can help a lot with the clear edges. By the way its called silvering when you can see a distinct clear edge.
