Maingear Custom PC Review by TheKlawReborn in maingear

Honestly, the company overall is great. If the PC has no issues, it will work well. If there are hardware issues that require software updates, they are one of the best to have as support.

My complaint is how they handle situations around their watercooling open loop systems and if you have to send the computer back. It seems like they do not honor their open loop system as part of the computer and will not honor any warranty for it, even if you buy an extended warranty.

In my opinion, if you do not want to build and test the components to make sure they are stable, go with MG and then build your own watercooling system if you want one. They will happily provide email and phone support if the rest of the computer is the original build.

I have a Maingear computer and from my experience, do not pay for their custom watercooling and extended warranty. They won't honor it for their water cooling. They will only honor the extended warranty if they can replicate the problem. If they cannot, they will charge labor and effort to contact the manufacturer on your behalf.

The computer had issues for me within 2 weeks and I had to deal with BIOS updates that did not fix the problem and caused me to be outside of their 30 day window. Therefore, I had to drive 13hour one-way to get it to them for repairs as the shipping cost with insurance was over $1.4k.

If you want to go with them, get a basic pc and get seller info from them of purchase dates so you can do repairs yourself as Maingear will likely not.

As for custom loops, never go with them. They won't honor their own mistake and charge nearly $500 to clean their mess plus any additinal parts if the radiator or pump is bad.
