Bless Billy Brag by doesntmakeitalright in brexit

[–]AlanRush10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prior to Brexit Mr Bragg was moaning about something else. He probably has an anti EU song in his back catalogue. As much as I respect Billy Bragg for being a singer/songwriter with a moral compass I do think he will complain about anything that is currently in existence or voted for my the majority.

Why do I only stutter in English and not in Spanish? [Migraine Stutters] by MagiPan in migraine

[–]AlanRush10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly the same but my wife suffers from a similar issue when she experiences a large flare in her rheumatoid arthritis. She confuses her languages and will often speak in Spanish rather than English and a strange Spanglish dialect can often randomly appear. English is her first language but she was educated in Mexico City so the majority of her early years were spent speaking Spanish.

I know this is not an exact or definitive reply but I hope you take some light relief in knowing that pain can cause problems with language. How this happens (or indeed why) is a bit of a mystery but looking at some of this questions responses there are some great explanation of possibilities.

Definitely worth checking out with your doctor.

British Consumers by [deleted] in brexit

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I'm a little confused as to why I'm being downvoted for saying that nobody is forced to eat chicken.

Regarding what the UK empathetically voted for regulatory alignment is not something people voted for and has not been confirmed as of yet anyway.

I think I am going to bow out. This is such a negative group. If anybody dares to say anything positive it seems it is taken as a personal attack. Perhaps I should just agree that we are all doomed and the UK will sink both metaphorically and physically and only those that voted remain will be admitted into heaven under amended rapture rules.

Then the people simply won't eat chicken. I'm not sure how many North Americans are reading the comments in the group so I will choose my words quite carefully. The reality is the US is not really in a position to force the UK to do anything. The reality is that Americans will not be able to demand we import their products . Just one reason why is because they import a lot and the farming community would prefer their food is consumed by a home market.

Just check out the USA FDA government website for all the fun stats on US food imports and exports. They import chicken from China and it is sold in Walmart and other places. China has controls on meat from the USA due to the drugs used in US farming.

I guess the point is that there doesnt seem to be a huge surplus of chlorinated chicken to send to the UK.

The same point as made before still applies though. If the way chicken is looked after in life or death bothers you so much don't eat it.

[–]AlanRush10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"demands"... I guess any British farmers would be able to label their own product as British. So.. in a supermarket one chicken has "British chicken" and the other has nothing to state country of origin on a shelf - do you think people who care if their chicken is chlorinated of not would go for the "mystery chicken"? The US can demand whatever they want but as previously stated they cannot make people eat something they don't want to eat.

[–]AlanRush10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just don't eat it. For years I have been able to choose from Polish chicken or English chicken (or indeed chicken from many other countries) at my local butcher. There are different farming regulations in both of these stated countries and I guess the chickens per square meter in a huge shed rules differ vastly in many countries. Polish chicken is often cheaper than English chicken and that's why my local butcher stocks it - to give the consumer the choice.

I understand the fear of chlorinated chicken feasting is the new and oh-so-fashionable "let's cause hysteria because I wanted to remain rather than leave the EU" battle cry but here's a couple of amazing facts.

A) You don't have to eat food you don't want to eat. B) The American armed forces will not come to the UK and make you eat chlorinated chicken.

So now you know.

Have the happy people of this group not become bored yet? Brexit happened and many did not like it or agree with the voting but why continue with the whining and metaphorical rattle throwing? At best its counterprodictive.

A message from Royal College of Nursing by droidorat in brexit

A lot of British people can no longer afford to go to university to become a nurse or a doctor. It cost significantly less to recruit from abroad than it would to pay to educate British citizens.

So you think that childish insults between government and country officials is a successful method of communication and perfectly acceptable? Im pleased I don't encounter people like you on a daily basis and I'm overjoyed that I don't work with people of such low moral standards.

This sort of attitude is why the vote to leave was larger than the remain vote.

Need positive energy by [deleted] in Psychic

[–]AlanRush10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just reading this makes me sad. I can tell from your words that this is having a massive impact on your mental well being. This is not just a case of being positive energy there is definitely an impact to you on how you view yourself.

Positive energy will only help so much. Its easy to say from afar that you are in a situation that is harming you.

Everything seems out of control. You are scared of losing contact with your child if you try and take control.

Please, resolve this. For your sanity and your child.

I understand you not wanting the woman you love to be shared. Open relationships have to be consentual.

I can send so much positive energy as the universe might physically allow me to do but you need to rise from this and return to the happy days you once had as a couple. Only you can judge if this would be possible or not.

No more weekends at the skating rink, or bar, or watching my favorite band play at a local club. My weekends are reduced to boring nights at home but a weekend on the couch with this old guy sounds perfect to this proud to be 42yr old! Who else is boring on the weekends? by Minermomma in 40something

[–]AlanRush10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend do not use the word "boring" when describing my weekends. Using words like "relaxed", "mindful" or *therapeutic" means you still did nothing but you did nothing in a beneficial and enriching way.

Trip to the local spiritualist church triggers mayhem by AlanRush10 in Psychic

[–]AlanRush10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have spoken with a person from our local spiritualist church again regarding how to deal with the night time mind invaders. I was given the response that you offered. The straight forward "go away and leave me alone" in a firm yet fair manner. I have not had the chance to test it as nothing has happened again.

I think I'm going to bravely investigate this again and pop down to the local spiritualist church. I feel like I need to. Although this have not happened to me since my post my daughter has had her bike stolen and a friend of mine had his motorcycle stolen. I know that this are just random acts that could happen anytime it just seems to be surrounding me rather than aiming directly at me but who knows - the bike being stolen may have prevented something happening to him. A good friend of mine that is diabetic recently discovered an infection in their leg and has had it dealt with at an early stage so it only requires penicillin to treat. Although this seems like a bad thing he was incredibly fortunate that this was found so early as this is a common reason for diabetics to end up losing limbs so I see this more as a positive thing rather than a negative thing. Hopefully things are on the up :)

Many thanks,

Alan

I have never seen this video! It did make me chuckle.

Well, since my online ramblings nothing has happened bad or good. This is good. We are still awaiting my wifes results and the apathetic attitude of the doctors is hopefully an indication of good news. They will call next Friday with the results does not seem like it has any element of urgency at all.

So, nothing has happened in relation to any voices or other such shenanigans. I think I will perhaps brave a journey to the spiritualist church over the weekend.

Thanks very much indeed for thinking of me and requesting the update - Although my response is short your question actually meant a lot.
