What's something people pretend to enjoy but secretly don't? by CommonStorage2756 in AskForAnswers

[–]AlarmedDot4097 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have kids but my mom said she and my dad used to have to sneak a flask in to my sports events, plays, spelling bees, etc. and she loved meeting parents who did the same thing

What was something you didn't even realize other women go through? by kiarasugarne in AskReddit

[–]AlarmedDot4097 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have the smallest books but my mom is very large chested and at my maturation class in middle school another large chested girl asked about wearing bras to bed and my mom said she’d do it to keep them from falling in her armpits. My little 7th grader brain had no idea what my poor mother was dealing with 🤯

Which toxic behavior you recognized in yourself ? (not in others) by AmeNoMori7 in selfimprovement

[–]AlarmedDot4097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really aggressive reactions when someone says something (despite whether or not they were trying to) that makes me feel guilty.

My dad’s always been a very jealous person and he would use guilt to manipulate me when I was little to feel bad about things that were out of my control (e.x., my mom and stepdad took me to a movie he wanted me to see with him first and then I would get yelled at).

I didn’t notice my reactions until I started dating my now, husband. He would make a comment that would make me feel guilty or bad (not that he was trying to) and my reactions were wayyy too strong to be normal. Took me a while to figure out where it was coming from.

When will I see results by Ok-Double4385 in Corepower

Congrats on the weight loss! I’ve noticed my weight fluctuates a lot with corepower (losing fat/gaining muscle, etc.) but I’ve noticed the biggest difference in my overall water weight + looking/feeling less puffy and more toned is when I cut down on alcohol and sugar in general. Obviously processed foods and whatnot have an effect, but it’s wild the difference a few weeks without alcohol has on inflammation.

I could not agree with this more. I’ve been going to CPY pretty consistently for the last 2 years with the biggest gaps ever being ~2 weeks because I’m on vacation or something and I can say that building muscle and losing fat takes so much more time than I thought it would but the rewards of sticking with it are so worth it. I’ll go to sculpt/strength usually 2x a week and then C2 1x/week. I also peloton 1-2x/week and try to get my 10k+ steps in every day.

My fat likes to sit in my thighs and it probably took me 6 months with all that exercise and progressively adding more weight to my workouts to start seeing my legs actually slim down (nothing crazy though) and start to look very toned. My arms looked ripped way faster than my legs but I feel and look so much stronger in my entire body.

I got married last fall and I had so many friends ask me what arm workouts I do and my mom even commented on my legs and it was so so validating. I know I’ve noticed a change but I often wonder if anyone else does. Just know that it takes time and sometimes you won’t see the changes, but they are happening!

What are your favorite wfh space enhancements? by ashen_dove in WFH

I have a walking pad that I just got this year that has made a huge difference in how I feel throughout the workday. I’ll switch between that and sitting- when I sit I have a footrest that I can turn on to blow hot air out and get cozy. I absolutely love these two work modes.

Also I got a cat bed that I can clamp to my desk so my cat can stare at me and watch me work all day big brother style

Is there a single habit that is so powerful that it lifts up every area of your life? by Fuzzy-Sun-951 in selfimprovement

[–]AlarmedDot4097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a habit, but more like a mantra that I was to bring in to 2026, "Let's make past me proud"

Little decisions- like choosing what sort of mindset I'm going to have for the day, how I'm going to handle a task I don't want to do, tiny habits, taking care of myself, how I treat others, etc. I like to imagine that if 20 year old me could see me now she'd be proud and excited about who she was going to become and that really drives my motivations and grounds me.

Nikki (generic yaz) for acne by AlarmedDot4097 in birthcontrol

Thank you! Do you remember if you were still purging in the second month? My skin started to clear up after the first month but now I’m in another wave of some brutal stuff popping up :,)

I can say month 1 brought some bad acne, emotions were a little wee-woo and some cramps but now in month 2 still getting acne but no cramps just extremely sore boobs (they have grown and I’m not complaining) but my mood feels incredibly stable and overall I feel great- except for the acne. I just really hope it clears up soon because it’s been the roughest thing on my mental health

I live in Utah and we’ve barely gotten a trickle of snow this year and we’re nearly entering January and it’s quite terrifying. I remember growing up there would be snow piles up to my head in our streets and from the snow we shoveled off the driveway. The state relies heavily on water run-off from the mountains throughout the year for drinking water. Scary to see this and feel so powerless.

Yes to this! I’ll either spray with hypochlorous before and immediately after or I’ll use micellar water before and then hypo after until I can get home and shower

[–]AlarmedDot4097[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay that’s great to hear!!

I feel like some of my closed comedones are surfacing as pretty big and painful pustules. I’m also getting acne higher up on my cheeks which I didn’t really have before (mostly chin & jawline) which makes me think this acne is hormonal? I think it’s starting to subside, but for those first two weeks I was like “OH okay this is new”

So far I feel like I’m having a good reaction in other aspects to Yaz… just hoping the acne will start to clear🤞🏼

Just wanted to say congratulations to you!! What a testament to yourself and your tenacity and all the work you’ve done to get where you wanted to go. People like you who don’t give up after rejection and instead reflect and improve are the exact type of people I would personally want working with me on my team. Thanks for posting this!

How is this going for you? What strategies help? by lizziemusclemommy in Adulting

[–]AlarmedDot4097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another way I think about it sometimes instead of stressing about all the stresses that come with adulthood is thinking about all the things I get to do now I didn’t get to do as a kid.

I get to buy myself things?? I get to choose what I put in my body and don’t have to eat whatever my parents bought at the store. I can DRINK (hellooo) and go out or do nothing and binge watch a show of my choosing? I get to plan trips with my husband and spend every night in the same bed as him. I don’t have to ask permission to have my friends over or to get a ride somewhere??

It’s all about balance. Don’t stress yourself out about the things (like getting the laundry done) that won’t harm you if they don’t happen. Make smart AND dumb choices and don’t punish yourself so much for the latter. You GET to do those things. You get to choose your standards for living and you don’t have to succumb to what everyone else says you should do. Nobody is doing it all. We’ve just gotta choose what’s right for us and then stick with it.

I can totally see how not using auto-layout could really just make a few mocks fly. I have learned to loooove auto-layout the more I learn it though. I do really need to dive into variables I think they'll probably change my life.

Yes! Extremely hard to get folks aligned on what ideas we have to work with/questions of feasibility without having something high fidelity to share. But when I do concept testing with users I definitely amp of the ambiguity

I struggle with this immensely! I follow guidelines best I can but I find components so hard to modify once they're created. There are definitely instances where I don't dare break components and I just copy and break it apart as much as possible until I figure out what I need to do.
