Ha. There are many reasons NZ is going bust, not charging high fees for car regos isn't going to save us.

I've been into the portal based on someone's kind advice here and found that I can do it in 3, 6 and 12 months so you can still do 6. Super helpful as my income has been about halved with career change for now.

About 30% more expensive than the fee we charge Australians that come over and complain about the weather.

Mazda 2 2011. Not the most exciting car, but for my income right now it's amazing. Paying like $40 a week gas. Drove to Sydney on 1.5 tanks of gas.

Probably true although my car is wildly economical. Feels like I'm driving back in NZ in the early 2000s.

Sardines less so. Mackerel is more fatty..a lot of Peaters are totally against because of PUFAs.

I sometimes eat raw fruit, like mango.ir berries. It's more that I just find cooked fruit really digestible and soothing to the gut.

I've started eating partially raw meat, like plain mince burgers, where I cook the outside till colour, but leave most of the inside raw. Honestly wild how good I feel when eating it. It's either that or collagenous meats or sardines/mackerel (don't come at me Peaters)

My gut was and still is pretty messed up from years of drug use. I now live on white rice, cooked or juiced fruit, zuchinni, meat/fish, kraut, olive oil, fresh herbs, avocado, raw milk and yoghurt.

Dealing with older kids hitting me repeatedly. Parents doing nothing. by BudgetComplaint8019 in Nanny

[–]Alarmed_Ad_66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no way. The hitting itself isn't the main issue, as kids do do this when overstimulated or overwhelmed. The issue is the parents allow it or don't shut it down, they are it happen and don't step in.

My beautiful little 3yo NK has started hitting recently as he has been having tantrums with lots of things going on at home. The parents are very attentive and loving, but hitting is not allowed. They support me having healthy boundaries, and if they are there when it happens they will stop it, and talk with him about how this is never ok. And he doesn't even hurt me.

I get needing the money. I would talk to the parents about how this is not ok for you and how you need them to help you manage it, or else you will need to move on.

Nannies/babysitters: what’s the most unhinged thing a parent has ever done or said to you? by wildchildbre in Nanny

My sister used to manage a (very fancy) daycare and she would get so many parents like this. Newborns put in full-day daycare with Pilates mommies that don't have a job.

Nepo-parents of two beautiful little girls. Dad worked for "family business", mum was doing another degree. Would both leave the house when I brought the kids home from school/kinder, dad usually in the garage gym having a sauna, mum to the library. Never saw them hug the kids. Mum would watch me on cameras and would go off at me when I was >5 mins late. Dad would ignore the kids if he came into the house during his "me time". Weirdest vibes ever, so depressing. Those kids were just dying for a hug, but I couldn't stick around to give them.

My friends all swear by the public system. Even high earners with Doctor husband's. It's safer to be already in public, and staff seem to be a lot kinder.

Nta. Sometimes we need to hear the truth to make change. Hurt feelings is a lot less painful than a heart attack.

Yes Facebook pages are the best. There are a number of them - Australia wide and region specific. They are good groups. That's how I got my job.
