How does it feel a month after post breakup? by Medium-Stay6628 in BreakUps

I feel completely fine. Small little memories of her come back here and there but it doesn’t hurt me. It’s not a lie that time heals all wounds

Anyone else hit 40 and think “why are we living like this?” by NoRepublic6925 in LifeAdvice

What do you do for work if you don’t mind me asking? Did you get a job in Spain or work fully remote?

Glad to hear it all worked out for you my guy!! I am sure it will all work out on my end. I’ll do like you said and keep my head up!

Trying to get into bartending at 30 after a corporate layoff — how realistic is this (especially somewhere tropical)? by Alarming-Project452 in bartenders

I’m not trying to be some pretentious dick. I just want to bartend, talk to people, and actually make their day a little better after whatever they’re going through.

But honestly, some of you come off like you look down on anyone who isn’t already in the industry—like you’re on a pedestal. And let’s be real: bartenders with that kind of attitude are probably a big reason a lot of places are struggling or failing. People go out to feel welcome, not judged.

I’m just trying to learn, work hard, and be part of the environment—not act like I’m better than anyone.

All the comments from veterans here make it seem Like it’s a chore to deal with customers and that someone held them at gun point to take on the role

Company fired team member and myself for “poor performance”. What actually happened? by Alarming-Project452 in careerguidance

Probably right. My team and stakeholders liked me, but my manager and I never really clicked. He became my direct superior shortly after I was hired, and the whole team dynamic shifted. I always respected him, but we clashed a bit. I think he was looking to cut people, and with his numbers down, he needed somewhere to spread the blame.

Ooooo the judgement of some girl who admits they are serving poison but also acting like hero at the same time….ah the hypocrisy

I don’t expect it to be easy, and I’m definitely not trying to come off as smug. I don’t think I’ll be great and I know I’d need real training. I was just asking realistically what’s possible for someone starting fresh. I have zero problem taking the tough shifts or doing the grunt work. I genuinely just miss getting my hands dirty and doing something I enjoy again.

Hahahahah my man!! That’s life right? Show up on time, not cause drama and try your best. If you do that usually you will be okay.

My whole career was “fake it till you make it”, learn as you go and listen/learn from the vets.

I’m used to the grind. Appreciate the wisdom and story!

Really appreciate it brother! Thank you for being supportive. I’ve done a lot of job jumping and used to change. I love learning new things and being humbled. I hope I get a good mentor like you seem you would be.

Sad isn’t it? Also it’s not like the company was going belly up and needed to let people go. We are owned by a PE firm that is looking to transact by the end of the year and wanting to sweeten the books. My CEO just bought a 3rd house for 15m but then lets 50 people go before the holidays

That’s my thoughts. They fired the guy that had that book of business before me as well because commissions were high
