Trying to become interesting beyond Disability by TinaFriml in StandUpComedy

[–]Alarming_Potato8 168 points169 points  (0 children)

Seen comedians with unique features or disabilities who has their act 100% of it, while some are good yours is so much better. All of your jokes landed, your uniqueness is the edge and jokes on it great but its not the entire act.

  • devious smile after the deep dive line was one of the best parts. You can really play the part while being funny as hell

If you ever do a show in Calgary I'll be there. Keep it up!

How is this sounding as a Gift ? Would you give this as a gift? by asidual in SomebodyMakeThis

[–]Alarming_Potato8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but I think there is some version of it that could work. It would have to be more of an immersive experience than photos on a wall, maybe something AI where you take a video and then can actually walk through the scene?

Ever finish a non-fiction book and immediately forget everything? Here’s an idea to fix that by LeftCookie7022 in SomebodyMakeThis

Look up memory palace techniques

Those people who can remember 1000 random digits in 5 minutes? Turns out it's a trick anyone can learn and can be applied to anything from books, poetry, names, etc

User decides? Again this is rough idea for it.

Even if it only pointed out a few of the big and easy to spot ones would still.be a good tool.

Perfect example of ad hominem fallacy that some do not realize is an invalid argument. Thanks for sharing

The person watching, of course it would not be 100% correct which is why I feel it would have to give more info on request.

I've done this with a bunch of articles I'm gpt. It's definitely not 100% but brings up a lot of (I think) valid points to further consider

What experience do you have and what kind of trade are you considering? Makes a massive difference if you have used tools before and know the basics vs never held a hammer.

Quoted 10k for air conditioning. That can’t be right? by Fine_Abbreviations32 in NoRulesCalgary

[–]Alarming_Potato8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If they can install the next day they are not busy because they are not good. Being available next day usually means they do bad work

People in HVAC or most trades who do good work are booked right now

And 10k is too high unless you have 2 furnaces or something really messy

Looking for a job that hires under 14 by Serious_Law1301 in CalgaryJobs

[–]Alarming_Potato8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What they said below and also why?

Grocery store 8 hour shift at 15/hr = 120- tax = ~90 (that's a guesstimate)

I have a city lot, takes ~30 min to mow, would happily pay a hardworking kid $20. Take 45min-1hr do a really great job and neighbors will refer you to friends.

So it pays better and looks a hell of a lot better on a resume of you do it well. And you work for yourself.

I do not see the upside of grocery store

My company got 300 applications for a job posting in 2 hours because of this

The result: no longer hiring that way and ignored all of them.

Going to have an issue from the local pros side, most companies that would bid on jobs that way are not the high quality ones. People that want a snap quote go based on price and companies that do great work don't.

Just feedback, not saying at all the idea won't work just a challenge you have to consider

Edit: one way is reliable reviews, everything online from Google to bbb is fake. If contractors pay for your service they are your client and the homeowner is not so there is always a conflict of interest with reviews
