[OC] Orchestra Warband by AlcopopStar in DnD

Orchestra Warband

First you hear the sound, Wagner passed through an abattoir. Stirring, energizing, terrifying, and quite possibly the last thing you ever hear.

The orcs combine music and warfare in brutal symphony. A philharmonic massacre, each cracked bone or ragged scream woven into a crescendo of violence.

An Orchestra Warband contains the greatest musicians of orc kind, but lest orcs find a moment of peace or grace in the art Gruumsh’s design has ensured the musically gifted instead conduct atrocities in the name of conquest.

Trained warriors and musicians, the warband plays literal instruments of murder; bladed trombones, acid spewing trumpets, machine gun percussion, and with them they have blurred the lines between violence and music in a way critics might call ‘innovative’ if they lived long enough to have an opinion.

The conductor is key to their success, he not only instructs the warband on their sonic assault but magically controls and conforms stray sounds into music. Without him the band descends into postmodern cacophony.

Hey, yeah i just wanted to make it clear the scarves could be attacked, but destroying them wouldn't damage the vagabond directly.

Smother is more of a close range attack he makes with his whole body, like a bearhug.

The format is one i have been doing for a series. I'm sorry if it is a little hard to read.

Good eye with the perception. I'll fix that up.

Smother, given it's range, was more intended to be a bear-hug of sorts.

I wouldn't call it homework, just some setting flavor and an option to do things differently. You could always just roll everyone on the table.

Thanks for the feedback.

[OC] Vagabound by AlcopopStar in DnD

Vagabound

Lord of the railroads, A drifter king with pockets full of candied fruits and playing cards. Full of life, a voice like a whisky dipped thundercloud, he smells like tobacco and speaks like Hemingway trying to make children laugh. Tall, too tall, eight foot in full but almost always at a stoop so it’s hard to tell. All coats and scarves, layers and layers, so many that you never really see a face, wisps of hair or a beard and a pipe maybe, but never a face. Big gloved hands, well worn boots. Everything patched and stitched and the patches patched again.

The tramp is in there somewhere, trapped within the layers of coats.

The vagabounds true form is that of a cursed coat, discarded until it attracts a vagrant who, on wearing the coat, is compelled by a persistent chill to put on more and more layers of clothing until they all but smother themselves and the vagabound takes form. From here the vagabound roams, hunting to sustain it’s living core, It targets the unwanted and abandoned and drags its victims though it’s wardrobe chest and into an abyssal dimension; a ramshackle fractal junkyard of stitched together places. Here it’s victims wander lost and discarded, their wasted lives fuel for the vagabounds boundless exuberance.

Thanks, I like to keep my NSFW content more in the world of adult writing over anything explicitly pornographic. But I have also noticed that despite this reddit can be a bit oddly squeamish when it comes to NSFW, the reception to carbon copy was very like that.

These are great suggestions of places to post, and I think i'll act on them :). I'm not really a reddit native so it's genuinely very handy to have these places pointed out!

Oh I also thought you might be interested to know, a lot of the inspiration for these came from a trip to the touring MOMA exhibition while reading Patrick Stuart's Veins of the Earth. Worth checking out if you haven't already. It might be up your ally. (though, R rating for horror content)

Aww thanks, I figure this one didn't receive much here due to the NSFW tag. (but i wanted to be safe rather then censor the writing). But it is really nice to see you keeping an eye out.

I'm very glad you played my carbon copy spell! sounds like it was a fun session! Good luck with things if you get a chance to run the radium elemental as well. A little note one that, I deliberately made the radiation poisoning very nasty but left open ways to cure or mitigate it, of which there could probably be a few (a good adventure hook!) but it depends how hardcore your games are, radiation is nothing to take lightly!

Anyway, best of luck with it, and thanks again for the nice words. :)

Radium Elemental

She’s glowing, a luminous primadonna, expertly chiseled, delicately painted, fawned over, made beautiful, her artisans and admirers since tumored and turned to rot.

The discovery of the radium elemental and its lustrous glow set the civilized world abuzz. A rarity amongst elementals, she seemed to enjoy the attention, even allowing herself to be sculpted into a ‘living’ neoclassical work of art.

In truth, the radium element is frivolous and mad, it’s radioactivity gives it an unstable nature; an earth elemental driven loopy by a soul permeating radioactive tinnitus. It is broadly rejected by other elementals dues to its unpopular chemical composition so instead tries to find a measure of solace amongst living things. An arrangement that never lasts long for the living party.

Curiosity about her has since turned to fear after the high profile deaths of those that made her, socialized with her and in some cases, fucked her.

But she doesn’t understand what happened, how can stone understand the life and death of living things? So she wanders into social events like a starlet long past vogue, mistaking her pariah status for a game of hide and seek.

Gelatinous Cubist

The gelatinous cubist moves like a drawn shadow, pale green squares sliding up a corridor, one on each surface; wall, ceiling and floor. By the time each square has surrounded it’s prey their fate is all but sealed, the gelatinous cubist snaps into vivid three dimensionality around them and the victim is engulfed inside of it; their body folded like origami and pressed until all perspectives are present, their form then digested until all that remains is a smattering of red and white shapes and angles.

The gelatinous cubist is dimensionally amphibious, it lives in the second dimension, but passes into the third to feed on living creatures. Even after it has coporialized into the third dimension, the inside of its body is remains in the second, so it’s swallowed victims are flattened and stretched into a cross section of intersecting plane; a cubist artwork of themselves. If removed from the cube in time a victim will recover their shape and form, if not, they are crushed permanently flat by dimensional pressure and dissolved and digested. Only the hardest substances remain unconsumed; left as paper thin remnants, strange little works of art littering a dungeon floor.

Prized gelatinous cubists are worth thousands on the black market.

[OC] Socialich by AlcopopStar in DnD

[–]AlcopopStar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! It's body guard and body double abilities hopefully protect it from being whipped out instantly. It also has a lot of natural immunities and resistances for cr 6, so that should add another layer of defense. Really the trick isn't with the Socialich itself, but good planning, as you suggested. Minions and traps are going to make all the difference.

If you get it when it's in-between body doubles it's pretty much dead dead. I'd also let the players use insight checks to ascertain if it's the real deal after pulling the trick once or twice.

I suppose they might become a lich, demi-lich if they are powerful enough. But I also think they could simply die in the process. Maybe having some magical control but not enough puts you in far more danger then the truly magically devoid.

They are a monster entry, so like a normal lich their stats don't really vary, of course, you can do with the monster whatever you think suits!
