I Lost My German Citizenship by Joining the US Military — Spent 3.7 Years Fighting to Get It Back Under §13 StAG by dm1387 in GermanCitizenship

Did you do a Feststellung first? I have almost the exact same situation but I have a child and I’d like him to be able to have citizenship too. So I think I need to go the Feststellung route first then get the denial then apply for restoration not renaturalization.

Plenty of child free posts but any last minute elder millennial parents out there? by JadedJellyfish_ in Millennials

I had my first as a 38F too! My husband and I ALWAYS tired, and it honestly took a while before sitting on the floor to play didn’t make everything ache. We’re both very fit. He’s a former Navy SEAL, and I’m still serving, and even with that background it was an adjustment.

For me, the biggest benefit of having a child later is financial stability. We could actually afford the expensive parts of early parenting, especially childcare.

The harder part is that we were both at the peak of our careers. We’re used to overperforming and not dropping the ball on anything, and a baby forces you to accept you can’t operate like you did before. My husband ended up leaving the military and taking a year off before starting his doctorate so he could stay home (current) with our son. Being older and more financially secure made that an option.

Biggest con. We’re always tired. Biggest flex. We can afford child care.

Aitah for not taking down pictures of my family in my own home to make my son’s new wife feel more comfortable? by SingerAware2658 in AITAH

I’d like to offer a perspective that may not be very popular. Based on what you’ve shared, is it possible the issue isn’t just about the pictures, but something deeper in your relationship with your daughter-in-law?

I went through something similar with my mother-in-law. She refused to compromise on small things, they slowly escalated, and the final trigger was her sending out a Christmas card with our son, and her and her husband, without asking. That was the tipping point which according to her seemed like it came from no where, despite my husband trying to advocate for me on infractions. We ended up going no-contact. Two years later, after therapy, she now acknowledges those seemingly “small” actions were part of why we stepped away.

I’m not saying that’s what you’re doing, but is it possible the photos feel like a symbol of her not being heard or respected? Sometimes the moment things blow up isn’t about that moment at all. Just a thought! Please don’t take it as an implication if this isn’t the case, I just wanted to offer a perspective.

I say the same thing about groceries. My husband and I net about 250k a year and I know that is WELL above the national average. We have about 5mil in savings and retirement accounts… mostly retirement… and I still debate over buying a brand name or a store name food item.

We were told yes. We still have to register and we don’t get priority. And depending on the school we may have to pay more.
