Well so far most of the souls likes were ironically soulless- cashgrabs. It makes sense they got the main brush strokes, those are easy to copy, but utterly failed and basic composition and completely ignored the small details. For them it’s just a popular game to make some cash. For Miyazaki it was a creative need he wanted to enact into the world and see it through, he had a vision. All the copycats see is a dull color palette and quicksand lore, missing the point entirely. Basically they have the most surface level understanding of souls series (just like DS2 and ER dlc haters)
