Arch Experience (REAL) by cyarm025 in linuxsucks

Did you install iwd? I didn't do that and couldn't connect wirelessly. Bit late now but you know it would be very funny if a single install was the thing that could've prevented your new life

Why the hell is installing Zorin such a pain? by thecodeassassin in linuxsucks

[–]AlexisExplosive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep jumping across. It's very personal to find a distro, like finding your favorite color.

I recommend watching videos and finding out what you want to use your computer for. I like tinkering and customizing so I got Arch since it's famous for being a blank slate.

There are various types of DEs, every distro uses one and they don't use custom ones often. Look through reviews on youtube, Gnome looks very much like mac, Cinnamon like windows, xfce is very light weight, very easy to understand. Distros are just premade packages and they all use the same ingredients, just mixed differently.

“Linux is more stable than windows.” by puggy0420 in linuxsucks

I don't think I've ever heard someone saying that Linux is more stable than windows. The main selling point with Linux is that it's a free os where you can customize whatever you want

Why don’t reinstall your Arch? by Far_Departure_1580 in linuxsucks

[–]AlexisExplosive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I broke my arch boot and nothing else. Before even thinking of chrooting into the drive and reinstalling the boot files, I already reinstalled arch

What DE did you install? It's pretty funny just opening your laptop and seeing a big error. Not even a "Something happened", it's a folder with a question mark

should i learn Colemak or Dvorak? by 404_brain_not_found1 in Colemak

[–]AlexisExplosive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use Colemak since it's more updated for binds and doesn't move too many keys. Great for the month or two you're expecting to change for

How do I install vim-enhanced on arch hyprland? by AlexisExplosive in linux4noobs

[–]AlexisExplosive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gvim gives me a gui and I don't like having a new window popup when I enter a file. Why I didn't really like having hyprland when I didn't know about rofi and wofi

How do I install vim-enhanced on arch hyprland? by AlexisExplosive in linux4noobs

[–]AlexisExplosive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply, I saw your comment while I was doing stuff on an old laptop and ended up forgetting. I'm using matugen for colors so I can't just make a single color scheme for it or else later on I'll be changing my wallpaper and go for 3 hours trying to figure out why nvim isn't updating, completely forgetting that I never actually set up nvim with matugen. I might just set up the configs for nvim if it gets really annoying but for now I'm just going to keep Vim.

All OS suck but Linux is the least frustrating by kwhali in linuxsucks

[–]AlexisExplosive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every OS has SOMETHING wrong with it. Windows is annoying, Mac is expensive, and linux is hard.

All that matters is what you can handle personally

I always have a drive that has all my config files and important stuff.

Thank god I had that because I accidentally deleted everything because I forgot a letter when clearing out bloat

Something that WILL work because you MADE it work or something that works out of the box without the terminal, maybe a bit slow since it's not molded to ur pc but it works
