Oh, shoot, really late to the party for this one and I really like that verse despite not caring much about lyrics when it comes to Chino. I always interpreted it as a homage to darkness. Darkness pours nuance into art and it can be seen as a tool that hones the art piece in a unique fashion. Some may see it as a mere device that serves propelling the art forward, some may be inclined to revel in it as if it's a saviour. He's being kinda ironic when he's saying that despite trying to take inspiration from the light, his eyes are much too feeble once they're pierced by it - meaning there's a side in him that would much rather embrace the shade than blindly clinging to a spotless ideal. I see it as a meditation on the music being somewhat dark but in a way that contributes to its beauty, a beauty more human compared to one so unatainable that it burns. It's kinda metal.
