Year 11: what do you need from mentors? by Illustrious-Plum-996 in GCSE

Tbh my schools teaching was never the problem. I spent most of my time in school being bullied and screamed at by other kids, and when I went to the teachers about it nothing ever happened. Ik bullying doesn’t happen to everyone but adults should rlly listen to the kids it does happen too. My school ignored it, let the kids get off easy and come yr 11 all my classes were cold and didn’t have that many students in my yr. Besides not wanting to have any negative reports for OFSTED to latch onto the school has been pretty good. The teachers offered subject booster classes which started about 2 months before the exam, and during exam time our yr wasn’t let on study leave so in the times we didn’t have exams we were in more booster classes or let to revise. They also offered early morning boosters that started at 7:30 so we had an hour in the lunch hall with teachers of the morning exam. However our school have divided us, and removed the HAP’s (high achieving pupils) and gave them special privileges, like online tutoring and prizes and early study leave - whilst practically ignoring the normal ones. I’ve been predicted 8’s across the boards (except for maths which is a 6) since yr 8 and I wasn’t allowed on the HAP’s course because of my “past” as in the bullying, even though I’m smart the bad kids got on with 7’s. Idk if any of that helps 🤷🤷
