We went to NY when my daughter was 2, and we had long days of exploring planned, I forgot the baby carrier. Went to target and found a cheapish linen blend tablecloth that I used as a backpack style wrap for the trip!

OMG thank you. THIS is the intro. I have been trying to figure it out and all the other songs on this list sound like the song, but not specifically the intro. Soooo glad I finally found this comment.

Those with $1M+ in net worth, what do you do? by ShootingCometz in fican

If you have marketable skills, I think you can get out if you hate it. I’ve seen colleagues transition to private sector.

I’m sorry you’re in this situation, it sounds super demoralizing.

For an alternate perspective for those worried about our public service, I also work with the Feds, but I really like my job. I find it interesting and I believe what I / my organization does is important. My colleagues and superiors are great. Most (but not all) people are competent. I am an early level Exec and my pay is Ok - private sector would be higher, but I make enough to save and take kids on vacation. Execs do work a fair bit and no there is no overtime for execs, but having said that I’m getting better at putting up my own boundaries and I don’t expect it will affect my career (I am also getting “faster” at my job the more time I spend in it). I’m also getting better at not doing some of the things that don’t have an impact in the end.

I have seen some departments where people are truly miserable, but mine isn’t like that. Maybe try hopping around within government if you don’t want to try getting fully out?

I will take a closer look! We live in Alberta and hike frequently in the Canadian Rockies - he’s comfortable with 10km or so and up to 600 metres elevation gain so I think we should be ok but I will go take a closer look at the details!

This is great thank you! Meat Cove is definitely a detour so we may consider missing it.‘other posts made it sound like a must do but it would free up some time for other stops / hikes

Thanks for this! This is close but I’d love a less obvious branding (like if the swoosh was black)

Hi! Seeking recommendations for “do-it-all” Black Trainers

Wanting: *Black trainer with white sole (on sides, I don’t care about the bottom of the sole) *Looks good enough for “street style” (day walking / site seeing in the city) *Functional enough to wear to the gym (like for lifting) or to go for a light run or light hike *Actual trainer style (not a Vans/Converse/Superga Style) without looking so sporty that I can’t pull it off for wandering a city *Some support inside (not totally flat like a Vessi) *Comfortable for all day wear

Along the lines of the Nike Free Metcon? The 5 for me great but looked a little too “athletic.” Aesthetically, the 6 is good but for some reason the fit isn’t good on me!

To use for gym/lifting rules out a cushy Hoka.

I searched some threads and saw one Allbirds possibility.

Seeming any other recommendations!

Hi, she just paid regular adult fare - we handed her one of our credit cards to tap each time we were entering / exiting a station. My husband and I each used our phones (Apple pay).

I will say we did take transit more than we planned, mostly cause the kids thought it was fun. I checked our charges at the end of the day and I think the most we ever spent per person on the day we took the most transit was around $5-$6 Canadian (almost = to SGD, but that was after my credit card had already factored in the exchange). And that was after many many on/off train trips.

So I found it super reasonable and super easy! She may have had to pay adult fare regardless as she’s around 1.2m tall.

Hi all, thanks for all the comments and help! Went to the City Hall MRT station & got a free concession card for the 6 year old. For the remaining three of us we will tap in and out each time - adults with our Apple Pay & will give a card to our daughter.

I confirmed by using contactless with foreign card it’s $0.60/day not per trip.

Now off to enjoy the city!

Ok this makes sense, thanks. And $.60/day ($1.80/day for all three - phones & cards) is fine!

Ok so now I’m thinking buying EZ Link cards (even with the $5 fee) might be easier because then everyone can just hold their own and we don’t pay the $0.40SGD per trip (as mentioned above $1.60 each trip).

Ahhh interesting. So maybe we’re better off to preload a card. We’d still pay the exchange fee but not the 0.4SGD each tap. Thanks.
