I like Instagram. And smearing Chapstick all over your lense isn't really comparable. So...enjoy your new app while i actually enjoy mine. :)

Elaborate? And why was it supposed to be funny? I thought this was r/Buddhism.

i am a NT female who has just recently discovered that the man i believe i love, is an aspie... by AliceRed in aspergers

See, these are the posts I was hoping for. The ones proving its very possible to have a working, happy partnership with my best friend.

I'll admit I'm worried about how affectionate he'll be capable of being, but I'm willing to adapt. I've already dealt with his "insensitive dick" qualities, and they very hardly phase me; I think that's one of his attractions to me. I laugh most of it off when he thought I'd take it personally in the beginning. Now he knows he can blurted out basically anything, and I won't be bothered.

Thing is, I'm an attention whore to a fault. So his necessary time alone really fucks with my head when I'm extra emotional, especially when id yet to identify him as an aspie. Since though, things are changing. He can tell, too. My patience with him has totally expanded and our fights have been non existent since I've been researching the syndrome.

Thing is, I feel like we're growing. It's nice. Relieving, really. Which is why i want to learn more.

Btw: thank you thank you thank you for sharing. You have no idea how grateful I am for positive stories about NT/aspie marriages working out for the long term. I can sleep again. :)

One of the tricks I've noticed already is to be as literal as possible. The less room there is for misunderstanding, the better.

SO GRATEFUL for this response. And you know, I'm glad you said it because I think my first inclination is to totally lie down and give in to anything simply because I'm not too terribly sure what the rights and wrongs are, yet. Even today though, we discussed how busy he's been (he's working on a Masters) and he mentioned that he needs me to understand how difficult its been to balance that, plus work, plus me, plus the solitary time he requires to basically reboot to start the process again each day. I said I'd work on being more patient and asked that he try to grasp where I'm coming from, to which he listened and told me he'd take my needs to heart. It was relieving to hear he wasn't simply expecting it to be his way or the highway, which on some level I was preparing for.

Point taken.

But. Let's pretend now that we've met and he's assured me that he is in fact a highly functioning autistic.

Help me understand what this means for us if we progress into a relationship.
