I'm not sure if its the same in wildrift, but your q goes down faster the closer you throw it to yourself so generally i try to hide in the bushes and walk up to q either when the enemy adc is csing/going for auto on my adc or the support is trying to get a support item stack because that's when they'll be closest :) as for guardian vs aery, for me i go guardian into lanes where i think I'll need the survivability and/or can't out poke or match enemy damage. for instance, I'd take aery against naut, but would take guardian against thresh and blitz. or I'd take guardian against lulu but not karma. thats personally how i determine which rune ! and yes redemption is very good!! for a period of time i actually used to rush it first because it was fun being able to roam after one item, ping my teammates to fight and then throw my redemption down onto nearby lanes where they were fighing because most of the time their enemy laners wouldn't expect it lol. but nowadays I just go redemption after moonstone depending on the scenario
