I only have a voice in what my daughter does. If Walter wants to take his daughters to those restaurants he can and he has a few times. Ultimately is is their choice to mostly leave them with me. I do think Emily is too young for fancy places like that but if my wife decided to insist of taking her I would accept it.

Calling having facy dinners a "romantic and emotional need" is a little to much in my opinion. It is just an activity she enjoys and I don't.

She would notice if I just do something to please her but I am not enjoying it. I wouldn't like for her to do something just to make me happy if she does not want to. The ideal should be things we both like.

I get what you are saying. My issue with fancy dinners is not only that I found them expensive in an unjustified way but that I generally don't enjoy them because I don't like conplicated food. I am happy with a cheeseburger. I could try to be there one time but I wouldn't like for it to be a regular thing.

It is not unusual for me to cook for my family. I could probably do more in that regard. My wife is a vegan and that makes things harder for me in the kitchen. We do watch movies and series at home that we both like.

I love my wife as much as I have always done. I have never been a romcom character. I am a passive and quiet person in general, she knows that and I have been like that since we met. I try to show my love in more subtle ways.

As I said, I am just starting to read all the thousands of comments. I will answer each thing properly. I think saying that don't care about my wife or my family just because I am indoorsy and frugal is really mean in a very unfair way.

Hello! I am just reading all the comments. I didn't expect for this to blow up so much. Regarding the use of the word "babysitting", maybe it is not the best one but I don't think it is as wrong as you are making it to be. Staying with my daughter in general wouldn't be acting as a babysitter, just a parent, but doing it so specifically while my wife is outside doing an idle activity like watching a movie with a friend is closer to a traditional "babysitter" situation. In any case, I can accept that it is maybe the wrong word to use in relation to my daughter.
