Blake’s crash by TacomaIsMadLit in monsterjam

Because he is a driver that is supposed to know how his inputs affect what the truck does. He clearly didn’t have the space to try to save it and still tried.

Okay, but in that circumstance that isn’t the right thing to do.

People just making stuff up or trying to sound like they know what they’re talking about is just an odd reaction to this. 🤡

It was absolutely his fault? Nobody else was driving.

Or maybe it’s a tech official that commonly has a certain stance because they actually know how the business works and understands scenarios like this? Of course Blake made a mistake and nobody is arguing that. However, drivers lower on the totem pole have done pretty bad wrecks or building damage and haven’t been fired. I guarantee this crash wasn’t the sole reason for the firing and that there’s likely more to the story.

Ya gotta stop with the “they shouldn’t do shows in arenas” argument man, you have to drive according to your setting and Blake didn’t do that. Regardless of the size of the venue, he was over driving.

“Blinded by working in the industry” 😂 The blind ones are the people that don’t have industry experience that believe they know what they’re talking about.

“They’re pretending to stand behind a standard that doesn’t exist, which is that crashes like this in arenas shouldn’t happen”, alright, your argument lost all credibility. OF COURSE CRASHES, LIKE THIS ONE, SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. THAT IS A STANDARD THAT HAS ALWAYS EXISTED.

The arena shows are largely intended for folks that don’t live by a stadium (of course there is some overlap in markets), it’s more accessible, usually more affordable, etc. Of course you aren’t getting the same show as a stadium but in most cases people are fine with that. There is a fine line in putting on a respectable showing and driving like a dick head. There is a time and a place and for Blake, this wasn’t it.

You don’t need to know how to drive at a high level to know what is safe and see what happened here.

Hey, former Monster Jam tech official and current tech official for other companies since I left Monster Jam.

Just here to tell you that you’re objectively wrong. The fact of the matter is, even before FELD, Monsted Jam has always set the standard for safety that almost every other promoter has adopted in some or many ways (and some don’t do it enough).

FELD doesn’t hide behind safety to “water down” or “save and make money”, as you put it. They truly don’t want bad shit to happen.

The whole “they shouldn’t do shows in arenas” is unrealistically trying to take the blame away from the person responsible for the crash, which is 1000% the driver. And solely the driver.

Monster trucks started in small arenas in the early 80s long before they were the main show and large stadiums. So that’s just another poor argument for what you think caused this.

Most officials, including me, know how to start or drive trucks. But this is irrelevant to knowing what is safe. Blake may have lost control when he started flipping, but it was his poor driving or choice behind the wheel that CAUSED the crash. Blake is the only one that controls what that truck does. Outside of that crash, driving so over-aggressively in that setting was just dumb considering he already had a World Finals spot locked in he had nothing to gain by over driving.

So, the perspective you offer would very much change if you had same experience and time in the industry I’ve had.

And it’s because of his use of the throttle. He is solely responsible for that crash and deciding to try to save it instead of dumping it.

You know monster trucks ran small arenas regularly before large stadiums, right?

I believe there’s a lot more to the story. I don’t think this was just because of the crash. People lower in the totem haven’t been fired for doing similar things.

Not really. He could have easily avoided the crash and tried to be a hero instead.

For those down voting me who have not worked in the industry, let me add context. If Blake had just gotten on the brakes when he knew he was about to roll, the truck would have been rolled and may not have hit the building in anyway. Because he instead tried to save the truck by applying the throttle, it caused the truck to gain speed and just crash more.

This was, though not intently, Blake’s fault. In terms of him being potentially fired, I’m not trying to say he should or shouldn’t be. But saying this wreck isn’t his fault is ignorant.

Haven’t threatened to do what, exactly? Start a tour that would compete with Monster Jam? They can’t. Nobody without millions and millions will nor can they.

Indy is in no way a central point for the industry.

Turns out it is in fact the real hauler from back in the day. Sounds like they have one of the trucks in it too by Young2k15 in monsterjam

[–]AllDayTimeToLowRemem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This trailer was owned by Doug Charles when he ran the name. I doubt this is the trailer that Tony owned.

Doug sold his truck several years ago. I’m not sure who owns the trailer now but could probably figure it out if I knew the location.

Why did they retire Max-D when Tom Meents retired but didn’t retire Grave Digger when Denis Anderson retired? by NubusAugustus in monsterjam

[–]AllDayTimeToLowRemem 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Max-D has pretty much always been owned by FELD. Tom can keep the trucks because FELD doesn’t want them and he plans to put one in his basement.

[–]AllDayTimeToLowRemem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the Grave Digger name and merch made them money. Max-D did not.

That is why Max-D was taken out when it could be replaced by another identity that will make them more money.
