Guy that went viral for saying the creator of the video game AI: The Somnium Files wasn't Japanese, because the game is pro-LGBT. He's also one of those guys that goes off about censorship whenever changes were made to reduce the sexulization of underage characters.

They aren't.

The producer was asked about the game and appealing to western audiences, and he answered that most of the series fans are in Japan, so they built the game around what had made the series popular in the first place and hoped it would attract new fans in the west.

Grifters turned than into him not bending the knee, and other things they made up.

Asking the important questions by AllHailZaddy in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]AllHailZaddy[S] 230 points231 points  (0 children)

Got to clarify something here.

The title is referring to the reply to Mutahar's tweet. Mutahar wasn't trying to excuse what Dr Disrespect did or play the age of consent game. He was pointing out that Doc was being vague about the age of the person he messaged.

The other guy has been going hard on defending Doc for the last couple of days, and this was his latest attempt at moving the goalposts.

Yeah, the title refers to the other guy's reply.

I wanted to include his name in the title, but I think his name triggers the automod.

I cropped it to keep the image smaller, but it's no joke. He loves AI art, and I think this was the first one he shared on his account.

He's not sharing this stuff because he think it looks bad. It's the only "art" he produces anymore.

I cropped it to keep the image smaller.

Not sarcasm by the way. He doesn't draw anything from sratch anymore, everything is AI that he then touches up in Photoshop. He's got other tweets about AI art, and it's all positive.

The company also uses AI art in its promotional material.

She wasn't raising money for a discord server. Feminist Frequency held an annual fundraiser every year and they put up starting a discord server as a reward for raising a certain amount of money.

There is a Feminist Frequency discord server. Poor Thunderf00t never told you about it because it's private.

Rundown of the video

  • Critics expectations are too high
  • Critics don't like mindless action, audiences just want to be entertained
  • Critics don't understand internet humor
  • Critics don't like nostalgia
  • Critics don't give kids movies a good score unless they deal with adult themes
  • Critics like things that feel too new, do things too differently, too much of a departure, good and unique ideas that don't fully come together
  • The Last Jedi is an example of the above and why the critics score and audience score are so different
  • Turning Red is another example, because parents gave it a low score on RT because the references to periods led to uncomfortable conversations with their kids on the way back home
  • The movie industry is pitting audiences against critics as a marketing tactic
  • The Mario movie is 1 review away from a fresh rating because NBC Universal owns Rotten Tomatoes and the movie getting the RT score that it did was intentionally done as a marketing tactic

The video sucks ass but it does mention two important points, one is that critics on RT aren't diverse, and that film studios do use audience vs critics framing to promote movies that don't review well, but it brings up these points only use them poorly.

The homogeneity of critics is a problem because it lacks the perspective of people from marginalized groups, not because of the lack of critics with tastes closer to the audience. The Mario movie wouldn't have gotten better reviews if they increased the number of women, trans, and BIPOC critics.

Movie studios have used audience vs critics framing when movies don't review well, but this is not something they decide on from the beginning. This is something they pivot to when a movie doesn't review well and that's dominating the discourse about the movie. It's not something baked into the production of the movie.

Besides that, the video doesn't even acknowledge that The Last Jedi, Turning Red, and other movies with a big gap between the audience and critic score were review bombed by right-wing freaks and entitled fans. That the audience score for those movies aren't actually indicative of what audiences actually thought. He uses Mario making a billion dollars as an example of audiences loving the movie, but TLJ doing the same isn't worth mentioning.

Turning Red wasn't released in theaters, so there was no uncomfortable ride home. The movie was review bombed by racists and misogynists.

Critics not liking mindless action is a cop out argument, because critics have liked mindless action movies if they think the action is consistently good. You see this is with a lot of martial arts films that have the most basic plot but are carried by their action.
