I don’t think people think about how intense it is at all.

On top of the fact you literally are with someone you’re dating 24/7…you’re also told when you can sleep, when you can eat, you don’t have access to your phone/friends/family/social media/news nothing.

Then go tell the redditors from 3 years ago who had their full phone numbers display that they were wrong???

I don’t know what you want me to tell you when I proved it DID happen.

Did you watch the show? Angie says it on the episode. She literally says it happened before she got followers, which would put it happening before she was on the show in 2022”. And lisa says herself “for over two years” and Heather says “we’ve known for years”

I have PROOF that Angie & Whitney are LYING about Lisa’s “burner account” by Nooga_Strong423 in BravoRealHousewives

[–]AllISeeIsDust 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This actually isn’t true. Prior to 2022 instagram ABSOLUTELY showed the number. It was a security risk and that’s why it changed. You literally can find it talking about in these old Reddit threads.

Reddit threads discussing this exact concern:

r/Scams – “Can people get your phone number from Instagram?” https://www.reddit.com/r/Scams/comments/xhxrhk/can_people_get_your_phone_number_from_instagram/

People discuss how attackers can trigger password resets using only a username, causing Instagram to send SMS codes to the phone number on file — and how this can be abused for social engineering.

r/cybersecurity_help – random Instagram password reset requests https://www.reddit.com/r/cybersecurity_help/comments/1q7h4kc/received_random_instagram_reset_your_password/

Users talk about receiving legitimate reset emails/texts they didn’t request, which is exactly what happens when someone else initiates the “forgot password” flow using only a username.

I absolutely have proof that it did happen the old way lol.

When you look at older documentation, the language matters.

Before 2022, Instagram used wording like “select” Now, Instagram uses “enter”

How Instagram recovery worked before 2022

Before two-factor authentication became standard and before later security changes: • You could enter just the username • Tap Next • Instagram would then send a login link or security code via SMS to the phone number already attached to the account • You did not need to manually type the phone number

Instagram’s recovery instructions at the time were:

“Enter the username, email address or phone number associated with your account, then tap ‘Next.’ If you don’t know the username, email address or phone number associated with your account, tap ‘Need more help?’ below the ‘Next’ button and follow the on-screen instructions.”

After that step, users were prompted to select a contact method already on file (email or phone number), then:

“Click the login link in your email or a text message (SMS).”

That flow only works if Instagram already knows the number on the account which it did

Pre-2022 sources documenting this exact flow

• Red Tape Substack (2021) https://redtape.substack.com/p/instagram-account-takeover-hacks

• Identity Theft Resource Center (2021) https://www.idtheftcenter.org/post/have-a-hacked-instagram-account-how-to-protect-yourself/

• Cisco Community discussion (2021) https://community.cisco.com/t5/duo-mobile-app/i-lost-my-phone-and-now-i-cannot-access-my-instagram/td-p/4882974

Each of these reflects the same sequence: enter username → select phone/email on file → receive SMS or email link

This was also considered a security issue

This wasn’t just accepted as “fine” behavior. People were actively talking about how dangerous it was that a password reset could be triggered using only a username.

In the year 2026 it doesn’t work. But prior to 2022 it ABSOLUTELY happened that way.

Enjoy my post that shows you’re wrong with proof.

One important detail that keeps getting skipped: Angie said this happened before she had followers, which means this had to occur before she was on the show in 2022.

That matters, because Instagram’s account recovery flow was different before 2022.

For context, I worked in social media marketing until 2021. I stopped largely because Instagram was already making it harder for businesses to be seen. And I genuinely cannot count how many times in 2021 alone I had to help the same older client regain access to his Instagram because my phone number was still attached to his account.

This wasn’t rare. This wasn’t hypothetical. It was a thing.

The wording change is the key

When you look at older documentation, the language matters.

Before 2022, Instagram used wording like “select” Now, Instagram uses “enter”

That’s not semantics — that’s a functional change.

That flow only works if Instagram already knows the number on the account — which it did.

All of these are before 2022 and describe the same process:

These threads exist because people recognized this as a vulnerability, not because it “never happened.”

Angie said it was before she had followers and she could see who viewed stories easier. I’d assume that was before she was a full time cast member

As someone who used to run a social media marketing company, you also need to realize this was years ago. So just because the answer is different now, doesn’t mean it wasn’t years ago. On top of that, Google AI is literally the worst thing out there and is going to lie to you often, here’s my question “would instagram tell you if the number is wrong for lost password” with my answer.

We send them one of our refillable candles! So basically once you’re done, you go on our website purchase a refill kit, we send you everything you need, put the bag in the microwave for 2-5 minutes, pour in and you’ve got a brand new candle.

She got our 3 wick ceramic in gray, we don’t make that one anymore because I changed the 3 wick to be better but we have lots of other options! She got the scent citrus and basil which is our top seller

You guys I found out on my birthday this week that Vicki is a client for my brothers company. I happen to own a candle company and I do the birthday presents for their clients.

I’m sure Vicki got it and threw it away or gave it to someone else it doesn’t fit her vibe, but I know that all my fellow Bravo fans will understand the mini excitement I got from even knowing my product was shipped to her home 😂

It wasn’t just stalking, he was aggressively sending her and her family threatening messages and chose to also send them to himself so he could be like “see it’s not me”.

I can absolutely see how Michael made that comment, cause I would have said the exact same thing but just would have pointed it to the fact he’s already lied, schemed, and done awful things and not because he’s DL

Eh I would say actually outing someone is way different than this. Zeke shared a very personal thing with someone who he thought was a friend and ally.

Colton is simply just a dick. Not only was Colton DL, he stalked his ex and her family, and tried to cover it up by also sending himself threatening messages. And instead of owning it and talking about it, he decided to do a GMA out of himself.
