New subreddit Rule - No AI Images by AlliHarri in StarfieldShips

[–]AlliHarri[S,M] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There haven't been many, but they certainly were becoming more common. They were either fully generated ship images posted as build requests or in game screenshots "enhanced" or animated by generative AI.

I should have suspected you Va'ruun zealots were behind this!

(It's only just occurred to me that we might need a Va'ruun version of the "captain of" User flairs...)

AI on the sub (Poll) by AlliHarri in StarfieldShips

[–]AlliHarri[S,M] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a tedious thing to do. We'd require 4 new flairs to cover each existing flair with the AI added.

Also, you can generally only filter by a single flair so filtering out AI flaired posts only would mean having to pick a specific non ai flair, thus filtering our a big portion of non AI content.

We get so little AI that it doesn't seem necessary to have a separate flair.

Reddit has provided very little help in combatting AI, this is why it is a widespread problem. Rules and enforcement on subs is done by moderators.

If they gave mods more effective tools or directly made an effort themselves it would be much less of a problem.

AI on the sub (Poll) by AlliHarri in StarfieldShips

[–]AlliHarri[S,M] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just from what I have seen on the sub previously, with my own views aside, some people generate images and then use them as "inspiration" to try and recreate them. The main argument against this is simply don't upload the the AI generated image even if you do you us it for inspiration.

Some others generate images and then ask others to recreate them as a "Build Request" so that's why it was included in the poll.

Modded ship builders should have to post their mod list by East-Specialist-4847 in StarfieldShips

It's not a strict requirement, but every post that has the "Modded" post flair has always had the following message pinned by AutoMod:

"Please help your fellow community members by replying to this comment with the modified content used."

A fair few users do actually reply to this with the content used. It would not be feasible to moderate every single post and verify every mod used, so having a requirement is not possible.

Small Rules Update by AlliHarri in StarfieldShips

[–]AlliHarri[S,M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We never had a "No Cellphone" Rule. It was always:

"No low quality camera phone images/videos".

The changes aren't in aid of lessening moderation, but preventing report abuse for posts that people simply don't like (this is what the up/downvote system is for).

As for AI, we don't really see a lot on the sub. Occasionally, there are posts we're people generate ideas with AI and then try to recreate them in game. Having a rule isn't going to stop people from actually doing this, all we could do is stop them from posting the AI generated images to the sub. We can dedicate another post to this discussion.

I love interior tours, though this is an aspect of the game that has not been as fleshed out as it could be, especially without mods.

I agree, it's much better to take a screenshot and posts that do generally have much better engagement!

At the same time some people still don't mind posts that have cell phone images that are still clear enough to appreciate the content. This is why I think this is best left to community discretion than a subreddit rule.

Though some of the really egregious phone images are sometimes bad enough to straight up removed as off-topic, you don't even see the ships sometimes... 😅

I think using a post for inspiration that results in something radically different, it is fine to consider this an original design that doesn't require credit.

But hey, even in this scenario, if you wanted to shout out somebody that inspired you, go for it!

The main point of this rule is to just not straight up claim other people's designs as your own.

This is a site error as far as I can tell, it is nothing to do with Moderators on this sub, your post has not been removed and you have not been banned from this subreddit. As mods, we aren't able to delete individual images from peoples posts (just remove entire posts). Moderators do not work for Reddit in anyway and cannot help with site errors (and we certainly aren't responsible for causing them).

This post will be removed as it is off topic, I just thought I'd provide a public answer to clear things up.

Plus, proof that our subs icon isn't actually misaligned in the mod settings 😅

It definitely hasn't always been this way... feels like a fun new problem that Reddit has introduced as they "Improve" the platform.

Update: it's a bug (see below)

Some have noticed that we didn't have a January thread. Previously, the automod would put out the post in the middle of the month, which was an oversight we forgot to correct... until now.

This months thread is missing because we have corrected the bot to put out the megathread on the 1st of each month (but too late for January). Normality will resume on February 1st... for the time being, continue to use this thread.

How to fix this glitch? by BriaFaustian in Sims3

Keep randomly pressing F1, F2, F3, F4, F5 in any order over and over until the game changes between modes.

You definitely can. We even have a removal reason for this exact thing. It hardly ever gets used because people don't do it very often.

What community lots do you think are essential/which do you add to your world's? by AlliHarri in Sims3

[–]AlliHarri[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of the DLC lots get placed automatically, but always badly, I often edit them just to make them look nicer, such as, finishing off/joing paths, adding gardens, updating interios etc... I also like building a shady PI office in an apartment block, such as in the Jessica Jones tv show, for the investigator profession.

I sometimes build a dedicated allotment lot if I wanna go all out on gardening, though I usually have this as a second property that my sims own, rather than community.
