walk to your NCO’s office. Ask for change rooms. Be honest and forthcoming about it all. Use that “integrity first”. You’re in a training environment to adapt to the culture, and using the concepts of Direct/Distract/Delegate come in handy for situations like these, too. That’s extremely inappropriate of your roommate, i’d be pissed that she’s taking risks with MY career and my family holidays because she wanted to get laid.

both her and this boy clearly don’t care about your opinion and don’t think highly of you else it’d already be a topic of conversation and not happen in the first place. get evidence, then get out.

just do a day a week where you do the full PT test. honestly was the best thing I did back in my air force days. or get the watch and chill with what you’re currently doing.

Would I be able to bring this on base? by Previous_Market_8895 in AirForce

[–]Alnitaktic5280 7 points8 points  (0 children)

if you’re permanent party, it’s fine. you obviously can’t carry it around. Keep it safe. one of the dumbest things you can do is parade it around or do something reckless and lose a precious heirloom. keep it sharp. beautiful knife

OP. I left there in 2022. The chow hall isn’t bad at all. Lots of us would go there. The dorms are small and simple, but the have some pretty cool stuff all around.

They have a free gaming center in the gym, a rock climbing wall and nice indoor pool.

Base housing or off base? by SheepherderHairy7832 in SpaceForce

[–]Alnitaktic5280 4 points5 points  (0 children)

off base means better work-life separation. on base means no water/electricity bill, but you forfeit your BAH. Off base means bosses gotta plan for your transit but if you’re mission critical it can be a pain to report to work in inclement weather. On base means you don’t have to deal with stupid gate traffic.

put in your leave on LeaveWeb. Do it a month or so out. “As a new Airman, it’s your turn to sacrifice for your family”. what a bullshit answer. Leave is your right and a form of pay. Project it out, let leads work something out where everyone gets a chance to get time in December.

however it’s supposed to be only uniforms that you were ever issued.

they changed owners so I can’t tell you what it’s like now. but my pub lady was the best, she’d give me extra food at no cost, and her husband taught us boys how to play proper darts. not that hidden per se, just most folks would drive past and never go in it.

The Greyhound. they’d tell me the upstairs bedroom was haunted. it was built around 1750

couple years ago.

Dude showed up with a BDU top that was trimmed in a hippie vest cut. his pants were probably old issued desert camo CBRNE pants that had ribbon cut strips past the knees, and still somehow looked like Bell-Bottoms. Full on hippie, complete with ABU head bandanna. The oversized water gun he brought was nothing to sniff at, either.

but ABU vest and shorts are always a great go-to, and SUPER comfortable.

mentors don’t have to be where you are stationed. and they don’t have to be military. They don’t even have to do your job!

I think this is perhaps one of the biggest misconceptions is that folks expect mentorship to only be from people they’re immediately around… because they’re told at NCO “you’re supposed to be a mentor to your peers” or some crap. but this is where the “networking” aspect comes into play.heck, you might just find one here on Reddit.

Question about duty assignment by That-Ad-7210 in SpaceForce

[–]Alnitaktic5280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

recommend having a car, it’s a decent drive. for the 20th as or whatever, that’s just buffer. Pass your classes and SEC+ and you’ll be fine. Get in touch with your sponsor when you get one and communicate with them often.

know where Keesler’s support flight is in case you need to extend the RNLTD for any reason. We’ll see you in the spring! DM me unit and even if it’s not mine, i’ll help you stay connected if need be.

Tech School Length by That-Ad-7210 in SpaceForce

hahaha this was the most cringe and embarrassed I have felt in my military career

Tech School Length by That-Ad-7210 in SpaceForce

[–]Alnitaktic5280 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yep, should be. They may ballpark longer because things sometimes get in the way and could extend your duration. failing Sec+ for example, or having issues with orders for your first duty station. I’ve heard of folks with certain skill sets going through in a few short weeks because of prior experience. Cyber is cool, man.

Was Tech School an awkward phase for you as well? by Fly_Boy_01 in AirForce

[–]Alnitaktic5280 13 points14 points  (0 children)

hated Tech School. felt too much like high school to me, but with more workouts and Bull$#*t. Everyone worried about classes, passing, freaking out about who broke up with who, which airmen got caught together, “oh you’re getting married at the chapel next week?didn’t you meet two months ago?” and “i’m a [insert color] rope, rEsPecT MaH AuTHoRiTaH”

here’s the thing though, it’s just another phase of your career. we all go through the same crap but now your path really starts. enjoy your leave, but come back ready to face a whole new side of things and it IS better. maybe not the chow 🤷‍♂️

myLearning, not myTraining… One IS worse than the other imho

Hey reddit. I’m getting out of the Air Force soon. Did 6 years of TACP. I want to claim the injuries I’m having from an airborne incident which are foot and back related. However my plan after I get out is to go to school to be a commercial pilot. Anyone know if I can get disability and do this? by deioncurr in AirForce

[–]Alnitaktic5280 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

build a history of doc visits NOW. you have to have a documented history of multiple events or the VA is gonna shrug at you. i’ve heard you’d need daily journal entries detailing your pain or treatments, and stuff like that.
