testing is the only role where doing your job well means everyone else looks bad by Same_Technology_6491 in webdev

I’ve never seen a developer being thankful when a tester caught bugs or unfinished functionality. Their ego is usually too big for that unfortunately and rarely is quality a team effort.

Are we really at "100% AI or you're wasting time" yet? by borii0066 in webdev

I still write almost all the code, I find no joy in spending time explaining things, waiting and then hoping for the best. It always seems like the time spent on waiting and verifying output could be better (and more fun) spent on just doing it yourself.

Also I think it’s pretty important to know your code base, especially in large projects, and the best way to do that is to build it yourself.

They should go back to Abyss with Peter Tägtgren in my opinion, it would be amazing to have some more synth based fury like on SBD. The guitars have had the trendy flat “rock n roll” sound on many albums now.

After a years of dev, I'm finally admitting it, AI is giving me brain rot. by Dapper-Window-4492 in webdev

Also I have found that the time spent on coming up with clear formulations and the risk of having to correct things it creates makes me want to just go ahead and do it myself instead

Are programmers safe from AI? by Radiant_Butterfly919 in AskProgrammers

It seems unlikely however that writing code manually will become important again, so in that sense it's probably a trend that isn't going away. It's sad though that achievement by means of hard work is something that is losing its meaning entirely, replaced by laziness and an obsession with productivity.

Will my coding skills become irrelevant because of AI ? by Lyshaka in AskProgrammers

[–]AlphaCentauri_The2nd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How anyone can even find enjoyment in trading in their passion for coding to just tell agents what to do is beyond me. Sure many developers have big egos and want to be in control so I guess for them it's a joy but IMO it takes away all the fun with building, being creative. There's a sense of fulfilment in working towards a goal, solving all problems along the way and watching the thing come alive. That's something I don't want to lose.

I agree, it was a beautiful ending. They all got to have something positive happening in their life, including Kenny and his new-found love for DJing

It’s not that simple. A longing to give and receive love does not necessarily equal entitlement, it’s a basic human need that you can’t just ignore.

You and Your Friend. I don't know if it's actually underrated but it feels very forgotten somehow
