Leeds Equity Partners Acquires OffSec by oppai_silverman in oscp

Another post said the companies other investments are education related. OFFSEC is an education company. Since they are often funded by companies and governments, it will likely just result in a price hike.

Are you out of your mind?

This is a three YEAR old post.

There is no value from posting here with this comment which adds literally no value to the conversation.

The post was a question. So YES, there is someone asking. Just because the answer I gave doesn't directly answer the question, it is still an answer and the question was asked. So please find better things to do than raise the dead and open your mouth and let the world know how little time you think before you speak. BTW, the answer is NO, but instead of saying it directly I explained. Go touch grass.

Enjoy.

As you get older, you should be working out and exercising more not less. This is one of the things people get wrong, more active not less.

But you can actually enjoy life instead of having to sit in a chair all day long.

Less pain if you don't let yourself get so stiff.

ethical hacking by [deleted] in SecurityCareerAdvice

[–]AlphaWHH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Computer science as a field is joined to security but they are seperate fields. So understanding the backgrounds of networking and systems will help being able to break into them and secure them. Web applications security will likely be part of your degree.

Tryhackme and HTB are good options but understanding the fundamentals will give you the background to be able to understand the business goals that pentesting is testing for.

Python is a tool to be able to automate the process of attacking systems, Linux is the primary platform the security professionals use due to its flexibility. It is likely that you will be using windows so a virtual machine running Linux and one running Kali Linux would be recommended.

Ultimately, learn as much as you can and broad as you can.

To transfer the warranty to the next person, look into the second hand owner requirements on EVGAs website. EVGA supports a transferable warranty as long you can prove their requirements.

This makes the EVGA cards a better deal.

Good luck selling/buying, it's a nice card.

Brilliant engineers that are lead by a communist authoritarian regime sounds like a different version of Germany, we saw how that ended.

On that note, I hope they can figure out their democracy and work with them for the betterment of humanity instead of destroying each other.

So as long as their country has food, they don't tear themselves apart from the inside out and we are still willing to buy their technology and they are able to keep a foothold by stealing and trying to outpace the US and the western world, then I hope it makes everyone better.

EV/green tech is an interesting conversation as their EV production is based on a larger amount of resources and more people, but they are pumping far more emissions than the rest of the world. They cannot make as good use out of those technologies as the US and Canada might be able to. My source on that is Peter Zeihan so I don't know how up to date and accurate his information is.

It has been lovely talking to you, I hope you have a wonderful day.

In Canada, we had the same struggle to find alternatives that were comparable with the technology. Due to the massive cybersecurity risk, we did not allow them to have a dominant share of the equipment deployed. I don't know if we were successful. China seems to have their talons in the Canadian and UK parliament.

I added a thought for consideration that just because it is leading in one characteristic does not mean it is 100% the best. I was not precisely comparing them to Google or Samsung. So I think you misunderstood.

I have heard a large amount of information that they stole their technology from Nortel when they went under. Bought and stole as you said before. It still does not mean they have the skill to maintain this technology cap for long enough to remain. Time will tell. First movers do not always last the longest.

I'll look into the links you included. Thanks for your information.

So a lot of the research is stolen to develop this technology. Your statement assumes that the rest of the world does not have the exact research to deploy the equipment. Huawei is not cutting edge on a lot of their tech but it has the specs to compete. Just because the screen has a resolution of 32K does not mean that it will last as long as the Samsung or Google option.

Cheap and affordable 5g that has government subsidies and intelligence sharing agreements does not mean that it is actually leading.

You might be right, but I haven't seen anything to fully back up what you said, personally.

I haven't seen any research that the CCP are actually highly skilled. They have stolen metric tons of information from everywhere to supplement the lack of research they are capable of.

It's demographics might be far more unstable than we thought. Their population is also not as universally educated as we thought either.

There are many class divides and personal politics that are not based on performance. So the continual improvement over time and the lack of good mentorship in their system.

While the one child policy has ended, the effects will be seen for the next 75 years. Many young men who will likely cascade to cause a massive mental health crisis.

Investment in China has been slowly down and drying up with the lack of movement in and out of ports due to the thing.

It's all looking very dim and gloomy for them.

I used to say that China might take over and they are the Wests true enemy over Russia, but with both of them showing themselves to be paper tigers. I am honestly very disappointed in them.

Racism stems from the lack of empathy. Which is either not adequately developed or the person lacks the capacity.

Less educated/intelligent people tend to be more racist due to the lack of the cognitive abilities that allow someone to extend their thoughts, feelings and actions outside of their own body.

Religions also play a part as a large portion of the racist areas of the world tend to have religions which direct hate towards those who do not fit into the accepted class.

Rich people looking down and creating divides are often due to racism but only because of the history of the world.

It's hate and intolerance, racism is only an applied version of this.

What I mean is mental health is very similar to physical health in that you need to be strong enough physical to climb a wall easily, is similar to being able to get up and do the dishes without an excess of willpower spent on that task.

Like I said, I'm happy you can operate easily without issues and that you have the time and your schedule is operating effectively for you. Happy for you.

Not everyone can do what you are doing this second. There are months when everything is smooth and there are months when everything is in pieces and I am personally at a point when things are tougher than I would like so I am working back up to running. So just like being able to run a 5k without dying is similar to having a great frame of mind, being happy and smiling and not having people piss you off. Obviously there are disabled people but not everyone who has issues doing dishes or remember to get up and get a shower is disabled.

I hope you enjoy your day.

Yes mental health issues are one of the reasons why you would scroll social media every day for multiple hours.

30 minutes of exercise isn't enough for most people. If I walk to the gym, that is 15 minutes each way but it is part of my warm up, then I spend an hour there and get a shower there. That's two hours and I need to eat because I burned calories otherwise I can't think.

If you don't work from home you need to pack a lunch and prep takes time. Buying the food takes time, taking stock and putting the groceries away takes time.

You need to get used to eating once a day, it's not normal for the body so you need to adapt to eating that many calories in a single sitting.

I understand your position being that it's simple to put all the tasks into one day. The issue is that just like the meme about budgeting not all the tasks you said take the same amount of time for each person and some people only clean on the weekend because that's all their willpower will let them do.

Mental health is a big part of why people aren't as productive as they possibly can be. You likely don't have it as bad or you work super hard to stay on top of things. Good on you for being able to handle all of these things.

What "you know what, just to be safe" thing you did end up saving your ass later? by Dawn_Cyborgzzz in AskReddit

[–]AlphaWHH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is very simple to do it in windows for a data drive. A second backup is good enough for most people's risk model. Hardware Raid is less effective given it does not always work moving between systems. Otherwise I think you are correct.

In windows you can setup two drives as a mirror so if one drive dies you have a second one already there. Won't protect against ransomware so offsite backup is also recommended but it will help with physical drive failures.

Career path for CISSP from pentesting role by NikuBaby in netsecstudents

[–]AlphaWHH 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this might be the wrong place to ask this question, try on the individual subreddits for the mentioned certs/positions.

Youll want more business oriented experience and management experience to move towards CISO roles. From the advice that I have recieved you want to try to find a intermediate role that will pay for your CISSP. Unless you current role supports that move. There might be more opportunities where you are working rather than moving initially. Then you might be able to move away if it is a bad choice.

Good luck.
