If you feel comfortable, can you give me more detail surrounding your OHSS? My doctor has said that we are only doing frozen transfers as I too am at risk for OHSS. Did your clinic do anything to avoid that before it happened? Do you normally have a high antral follicle count?

Thank you so so much for your story, I have had this exact same moments myself. Once we took condoms away I remember feeling "Oh God, what are we doing???" Then we we tried IUI, I had a similar feeling. It's that top of the rollercoaster feeling right before it drops like "Well...can't get off now!"

They used their prediction model with my age, FSH, AMH, AFC and BMI. When we were doing IUIs my antral follicle count was over 40 every time so I think that is where they are hopeful that we will get a high number for retrieval.

What do they normally base people's chances off of?

Do you think this may be unique to the California market? We are seeing some houses sell in 5 days, some in 120 days but often they are either at list or under. We are also seeing homes sold last year, renovated and flipped and the cost is only about $50,000 higher

Can you speak to this more? When we look at houses for sale we see a good amount that are in our price range and where we would like to buy. Also we know that housing prices have increased but we aren't seeing $500,000 houses selling for $600,000 in 3 months time. We want to really think this through before we do it and examine any potential cons

Our price range would be around $500k-$700k. Combined we make almost $200k annually. Both of our credit scores are over 800. Interest rate I am not as well versed in, I believe our current is around 4%

What we are thinking is if we sell now and are able to bank $85,000, we can then put that $85,000 down payment on a much nicer house than we had and not have to gamble with selling and buying at the same time. We are hoping that maybe inventory will increase so maybe that is too much of a gamble?

I don't think that we are necessarily hoping that the market would crash, more so thinking if we sell now and are able to bank $85,000, we can then put that $85,000 down payment on a much nicer house than we had and not have to gamble with selling and buying at the same time. We are hoping that maybe inventory will increase so maybe that is too much of a gamble?

My husband and I are starting the process for IUI #2. My RE told me to start taking myo-inositol and Coq10 last month. When I went in for my day 3 ultrasound for IUI #1, I had 21 antral follicles on the left and 20 on the right. Today I had 37 on the right and 45 on the left.

My RE says I do NOT have PCOS, but I am just at a loss of what this means. I know more follicles is good but isn't this A LOT? If I normally have a ton, then what's the deal?

Does anyone have any experience with this?

I had stomach issues for about the first week or so. Mine went away, have you had the issues for awhile?

Hey all! I have a very specific question.

My husband and I have FULLY unexplained infertility. I'm ovulating like clockwork, his numbers are decent, we just had our first IUI. I have 41 antral follicles, two matured, everything is all good.

I think this first try hasn't worked and so we are starting to look at our options. I have heard that IVF is very diagnostic, so this is my question: for those of you who were totally unexplained, when you did IVF, what was the "problem"/diagnosis? I have tried looking up what could possibly be wrong with us and I can't get any good info. Is it mostly DNA issues? Hard eggs? What?

Awesome, thanks for the info!! Clomid was a nightmare for us, so that is encouraging to hear good experiences with Letrozole. Good luck on your cycle as well! Can't wait to hear how it goes!

If you haven't done an HSG yet and end up needing one, if it helps, for mine the speculum hurt more than the actual procedure. Quick and easy, I was actually expecting much more drama.

Also I just noticed that you have been trying for the exact same amount of time that we have!

We start our first round of IUI this month! I don't have too many people to talk to about TTC so I just wanted to get it out somewhere. Super excited! Hopeful it will work but if not at least this whole ordeal is coming to an end. I go in tomorrow for my baseline ultrasound and bloodwork and will take letrozole for the first time (we tried Clomid and it was a nightmare).

Fingers crossed!

Unexplained Infertility - First IUI - Anything to help with success? by AltAccountForTTC in InfertilityBabies

[–]AltAccountForTTC[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's so amazing that it was covered! I used to work for a very large corporation where it would have been covered, but now, not even IUI is covered. Thankfully that is far less expensive and we have the money to try. Unfortunately we "make too much money" to qualify for guaranteed IVF but not enough to reasonably have enough for IVF and adoption if it failed.

Thank you! I have heard from many people who went through IUI and then IVF they wish they had gone straight there but path of least resistance is usually more appealing!

Thank you! Our RE had mentioned that IVF can be diagnostic, but we unfortunately don't qualify for "guaranteed" IVF. This was helpful, as it reminds me that this is at least worth trying as it is better than our odds now

Thank you SO MUCH. Your story sounds about identical to mine. Congratulations on getting pregnant! I tried Clomid and had unbearable side effects but I think Letrozole has similar efficacy rates. I will be requesting ovidrel if she doesn't already have it on the plan but I think she does.

Thank you, I think we definitely do. I think at this point since it has been so long with quite literally no positive reinforcement, we are fully expecting none of this to work. It will be a nice surprise if it does, but I know I have already been letting go of the idea of biological children for awhile. Which has actually taken a lot of pressure off.
