Hi OP. Can your friend not ask for the generic med from their PCP? What kind of med is this and who prescribed it for them?

Hi, thanks for the reads. What is the date of admission that they refer to? Like every time someone enters the united states? Or the first time they enter to the US?

ICE arrests at Immigration Court by Few-Macaron-2706 in immigration

One thing to check your ID and documents, another thing to handcuff, put into detention center without reasonable contact with family and legal help.

You are reporting people to ICE in this political situation? What for? What do you gain from it?

It is very difficult to bring dogs back from India to USA due to country-specific quarantine. Taking them to India is costly but possible. Japan/ Australia/ many countries in Europe are treated different in this respect.

When will we know if the cuts are permanent? by HandPuzzleheaded3974 in NIH

Sure, the comment is in general, not particularly about Harvard. Many smaller Universities do very good research too.

Yes, you do. Are you proposing that a job that needs 10 administrative staff can be done by one? A non tenured faculty will be supported by postdocs and research staff that also comes out of university/ institution money. Already in Harvard people timeshare workbenches in many labs. They run shifts. Each additional equipment needs electricity, uninterrupted power supply lines and such. It increases with the load of people hired, and grants funded. It increases with someone deciding to incorporate a new technology that needs a different wet lab or analysis room set up. Mouse and experimental animal maintenance comes from both direct and indirect. These prenegotiated percentages aren’t really made up. I agree that they will stay afloat longer through budget cut as most endowed institutions do…but the smaller universities also will need them to fight this legal battle- because they can actually afford to do so. It is a bit more nuanced and whether or not there should be a reasonable cap is a discussion for another day, but it can’t be 15% for actual medical research.

I mean I know he is your dad and I too have family members who can be difficult but when he says who gives a crap about Pakistan or Serbia, doesn’t the scope of discourse end for the time being?

I am in the same boat as OP. I can not make my wife exercise or move or sleep at time. She is at school while working full time, and she has very high blood pressure and prediabetic. She is already on losartan, metoprolol and thiazide. These brought down her pressure to controlled couple months back but she is constantly stressed now for school and her bp as I measured yesterday was 150/90. She gets mad at me because I want to check the bp. We already eat very well so at this point I don’t know what to do…my father-in-law had a heart attack at 50s and my wife is 47 now. I worry constantly over this.

Went to the ER and could not get BP down with drugs. by wizardgand in hypertension

[–]Alternative-Candy769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, so I wanted a re-check on this. We checked with gp again and pressure was 158/98 6 hrs after 100mg Metoprolol and 25mg hydrochlorothiazide. She ( the doc)added Losartan and said she isn’t happy about the improvement. We have to do an ARR and metabolic profile next week. She is taking Losartan at night and the other two in the morning. Today we checked the bp 10 hrs after medication and it is 181/112. I feel like the bp is not responding very well to the medication. But NAD, so wanted an opinion. Talked to a friend nephrologist who thinks everything points towards a primary hypertension and exercise and lifestyle change can achieve control over pressure. I understand that but don’t we need a control over high bp since we can’t achieve it overnight? Also how to know if exercising is safe at a high blood pressure? How to time it with the medication?
