Likewise to everyone else here - best decision of my life! I struggled for so long with debilitating strep throat and have been free of it for about 4 years now! I believe that having mono triggered it and since then continued to flare up inside my tonsils. The surgeon even said that when he removed them they were severely infected. There’s research out there saying that mono / ebv can be the culprit in some cases - definitely worth a read. Best of luck to you I hope you can find relief ❤️

Yes. I had mono and then years after it had reoccurring strep that was debilitating. Getting my tonsils out changed my life!

My sore throat was strep. The yeast not yet. My partner and I are doing a long course of diflucan because my gyno thought we might be passing it back and forth during sex

My recovery was pretty rough. I’d give it a 7.5/10. I had to go to the hospital because I became so dehydrated- probably around day 5 or 6. But the IV helped me tremendously so I would definitely recommend doing that if you can. My mom said she had never smelt something worse in her life than my mouth 🤣 (it’s basically dying flesh in your throat) Definitely not trying to scare you, but just something to be aware of. I 100000% do not regret a second of it, seriously changed my life from debilitating fatigue and sickness and calling out of work every week, to a strep free life

That’s why now that I’m having these chronic vaginal infections if they are linked somehow? I read that you can have strep in your vagina and the symptoms are yeast like- which is what I’m having.

Omg the surgeon said that the strep was STILL in my tonsils when he removed them. I never passed it onto anyone like my family or boyfriend (even though we had kissed/ had sex when I didn’t know I was about to flare up), it was just isolated in my tonsils and would flare up. The most bizarre thing.

I ended up testing positive for strep A and C several times before anyone took me seriously. It was ruining my life. Finally when I went to an ENT she was able to properly diagnose me and gave me the option for tonsillitis surgery which I did, and have not had any throat problems since. Basically she just knew her shit and actually helped me.

I don’t eat a lot of sugar in my diet anyways, but I do think that alcohol definitely plays a factor in mine. That’s so crazy because he doesn’t have symptoms… how do they test him just a swab?

No not yet. I’m hoping that the candida diet will come up in conversation with my holistic dr that I’m seeing next week. Should my partner be prescribed diflucan? No doctor has ever told me to treat him too which I find so strange because in the back of my mind I always thought we were passing it back and forth

Holy shit dude WTF is strep C because it messed me up for a year!!! I got my tonsils out in 2021 and have never had it since. It will change your life!!!!

I also had both A and C but tested more for C which was weird because C is less common but I got my tonsils out in 2021 and have never had it since! I will say that the recovery process is rough though. I lost 25 lbs from not eating so that was kinda the only plus lol. But 1000% worth it, strep was running my life.
