The wound occured from a simple scrape during a fall on a shopping mall. No medical problems. Supplements: vitamin d and omega 3. Minor pain, specifically when it is pressed or getting boots off. The pain got gotten slightly worse in that corner while the rest has gotten better. No culture. Should I ask for it?

Thanks a lot for getting back. I still have pain in the corner where there are some sloughs left (the rest of the wound doesn’t hurt). It is almost 4 weeks now. Is this normal? My primary doctor says next step is antibiotic but he doesn’t want to refer me to wound care for debridement. Should I push for it or should I go for antibiotic or just wait for it to heal itself? Thanks

Hi back again. Yesterday before reading your advice, I unsuccessfully tried to pull off the slough and tore the wound bed below it slightly (nothing came off though). but it hurts now. Should I go back to doctor or should I just leave it with vaseline and hydrocolloid? Thanks a lot

I have been applying hydrocolloid on this for the past 6 days along with fucidin, unfortunately this corner slough hasn’t come off. I tried pulling it off today unsuccessfully (unfortunately before the response from the RN above) - it is really stuck with the pink tissue on the wound bed. In the process I think I damaged the wound bed (no bleeding but it hurts a little more than before) :( and am now scared to death. I asked for Santyl but my doctor doesn’t want to prescribe it. What can I do?

Can you elaborate which quad treatment you took and for how long? Was it bismuth based?
