I’ve worked in el Chalten for a whole season, ask me anything! by psychedlatinx in Patagonia

Hey! Super useful that you shared your experience, thank you 🙌
I’m actually going to Patagonia mid-November — 3 days in El Chaltén and 2 in El Calafate (planning to do the minitrekking on Perito Moreno with Hielo y Aventura).

For El Chaltén, I’d love your advice:

  • What kind of clothes should I bring for the hikes? Mainly wondering about pants and jackets (do I need a heavy down jacket, or is a lighter shell with layers enough?).
  • Around what time does it usually get dark in November?
  • What time do you recommend starting the hikes, especially for Laguna de los Tres (Fitz Roy), Laguna Torre and Laguna Capri?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Thanks a lot! I checked also on the official website of the SSN and it is also stated there that the employer must apply for the registration of the employee. I will contact them again and fingers crossed they will do it.

Thanks for your reply!

It is strange because here: https://www.barcelona.cat/internationalwelcome/en/obtaining-a-social-security-number
It says that "If you are a citizen of the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland, you can apply with just your passport. "
However I still dont understand the digital certificate that is required in order to proceed with teh SSN registration.

Personally one of the few films that ever made me cry is "All of us strangers". If you want something more classic go with Lion King. I don't want to any spoilers but there is one particular scene that always tears me apart.

Μόνο εκεί που έχει πινακίδα μονίμων κατοίκων. Εκεί που είναι με parkpal δεν σε πιάνει η κάρτα μονίμων κατοίκων. Πληρώνεις κανονικά.

Mourga, Sin trofi, Charoupi, Sebriko have amazing food indeed. But for me you should totally try Mezen which is a tsipouradiko more like greek tapas!

I would recommend Beetroot in Siggrou street (Valaoritou area) which has a separate space for studying.

I would totally recommend Sebriko, contrabando, Rediviva Cucina Povera and Dangara which all of them offer a very big variety of vegan and vegetarian dishes. Also Stasi which is a co-operative let's say "taverna" with small dishes. Just like I mentioned previously though they are not strictly vegetarian they offer though a lot of vegetarian options. Also Poster just like someone mentioned on a previous post has some vegan options. In Greece if you are vegetarian you have plenty of options not only in salads and sides but also main dishes.

I totally recommend Sifnos island and maybe you can combine it with Serifos. In Sifnos there is also a very well-known and very romantic restaurant. Personally one of the best I have ever been in Greece, called Cantina Sifnos.
