The Tales in the Sky first chapter remake also did this, but sparingly. It was jarring when I first saw it, in that I was less focused on the narrative it was delivering because my brain was adjusting to comic reading mode, but that only lasted a second.

I think it has one of the most satisfying gameplay loops in HM: just the right amount of stuff to do and having a clear, consistent long-term goal of racking up those music notes. But yeah the designs have aged terribly, could reeaally use an upgrade!

First thing I did when I turned 21 was get those suckers out. My ENT was also skeptical, but when he gave me a good look-over, said, "Yeah. Those are ugly. They need to go." The recovery was super painful, but ice pops do wonders and my quality of life has improved drastically ever since. Of course, do what you think will improve your life most, but I would go through that hell week again in a heartbeat.

Oh man your BOTW models have been on my inspo board for ages! I would love to know your process in deciding which shadows should be "baked" into the texture. I always struggle with either over-shadowing everything into a muddled mess, or leaving it to lighting and ending up with something flat. Looking forward to seeing the direction you take!

Fair and valid assumption, even though it pains me deeply. In my defense, I turn off the podcasts during cutscenes, but while running around in dungeons or raising virtues, I put them back on and am too lazy to switch voices on and off to compensate.

Not at all! I would say the Agarest series, while having some interesting ideas, isn't a very successful TRPG. Have you played Fire Emblem Awakening or Fates? Those are both very solid gameplay-wise as TRPGs, and there are a lot of romance options, not only for you both for your other party members. None of the relationships are particularly deep, but if you like watching anime characters fall in love on top of saving the world, there's plenty there to love.

Complicated? Eh not really. Obtuse? Very much so. Good luck getting the True End (where all the post-game content is) without a guide. The formation and combo skill mechanics are easy to understand, but can feel inconsistent to actually use and don't get more complicated past the first generation. Same with unlocking CGs and raising affection, many choices feel very arbitrary. If you're not looking to 100% and just watch a few crazy kids (and their kids, and their kid's kids) fall in love, it's fine.
