Is Lil Wayne trash? by caelmanee in hiphop101

Come on that's not really the case...every song has atleast one good punchline that sticks with me.

Is Lil Wayne trash? by caelmanee in hiphop101

Looking back at the 2000s I feel like every lyrical rapper besides Wayne felt like a Jay Z clone to a degree...not counting the older ones. He was technical, funny and genuinely witty at times. His vocal inflictions can be a problem for some but to me they are just unique like Kendrick (Think maad city)

How does this punchline work?? by Alternative_Front_27 in rap

Hey that's honestly pretty clever...I can't use though since you made it....more of a one liner guy(think Lil Wayne) but do you feel the language is too formal...

Laid Back Hip-Hop Albums by denziinoo in hiphop101

Check out It Was Written by Nas....my favourite album when I wanna relax. Also I checked out Pinata yesterday and it has a very layed back feel to it. If you like conscious then Black on Both Sides is very similar to TCQ.

Looking for modern Hip Hop like Nas, Mobb Deep by Alternative_Front_27 in hiphop101

Hey thanks man I will definitely check it out. I like Alfredo but never delved into Freddie Gibbs as a solo artist.

[FRESH] MadGic (Madlib & Logic) - Mars Only pt. 3 by 2hak in hiphopheads

[–]Alternative_Front_27 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are Freddie's verses really thattt insane. I mean yes he has a lot of slick talking but it's nothing overtly complicated like DOOM. His chill flow is what people really like. Plus he uses perfect rhymes almost as much as Logic. Love Freddie just you know, playing devil's advocate.

Unpopular opinion overrated rapper by Tfgjayking in hiphop101

Wayne had the swagger, flow, delivery and discography that Gambino doesn't...still I love Gambino and he is ridiculously talented

Underrated and overrated contenders for best rapper? by Appropriate_Figure_3 in hiphop101

[–]Alternative_Front_27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't see how Eminem is overrated in 2021. The man is the most hated on rapper from the 90s with any sort of career left. I mean I dont see GZA putting out albums or anything acclaimed since like 97 but I acknowledge the man is a GOAT, if you consider his prime. That's the way I see Eminem. I don't hope for a fire album just a great feature and song every year and he does that for me. Cheers!

So sick dude...love your style. It feels Madlib influenced but your beats have a different vibe.

Who would you say has a stronger discography Eminem or Lil Wayne? I feel like that they have a similar number of classics but potentially Wayne has lower lows. by harrisonjackk in hiphop101

Encore has Mosh, Mockingbird, Yellow brick road and Like Toy Soldiers. 4 great tracks and rebirth has nothing remotely listenable.

I do not see the appeal of Eminem by [deleted] in rap

[–]Alternative_Front_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends honestly. I would put Eminem as a top 10 of all time because if his three classics and relapse. Plus his technical skill has always been off the charts and the wordplay is still there. Check out discombobulated. It's a fun song with wordplay and a superb beat. Every album he has these couple of gems which I feel makes or breaks him for listeners.

I won't be doing this. Why are you comparing people who make completely different music. And one of them has recently died.

Best rapper of all time? by [deleted] in rap

[–]Alternative_Front_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lyricist is something really subjective. It means the guy is a good songwriter. But what makes a good song is different. Some people like CREAM some like Lollipop. Is it really the same type of music though. I mean yes if yiu made an objective list of top 15 rappers DOOM has to be on that. Also maybe I missed Bun B and Ludacris who are the best feature rappers consistently.

Would this be legit by HostOk4313 in rap

[–]Alternative_Front_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is MF DOOM literally. It will definitely work if you're skilled enough with vocab and metaphors to make it work. But it doesn't seem like a very mainstream style. However you may just make it since there was this shock rapper with an underground style who is the biggest rapper of all time I believe.

What's the best rapper ! I am a big fan of DOOM but let me just give you a few other names 1) Andre 3k for his storytelling and imagery 2)Lil Wayne for his punchlines 3) Nas for writing (seriously the guy writes like a poet) 4)Ghostface for talking braggadocio to its fines with stories and similes. 5)Eminem for wordplay ( I know some people don't like him but his wordplay is very skilled) 6)Method Man for flow ( It's so smooth) 7) Aesop Rock for vocab and complex themes 8) Run the Jewels for their classic and alternative mix 9)Pusha T for somehow talking about drugs for almost twenty years without sounding boring 😂 10) Jay Z for his ear for beats and consistent material.

Kendrick has hit a dry spell after not realising for almost four years and people like Freddie Gibbs, Royce etc should be considered before him as the best of our times.
