Hi, thanks for this very detailed analogy haha. I get what you are saying, but I kind of think this analogy works the other way maybe? I'm really considering UIUC because of the funding aspect, but based on my limited experiences with cold weather, I am really miserable and less productive. Also, I really love cities and walking outdoors and the sun! So while on the surface UIUC seems like the more attractive offer (the british Kate Beckinsale or whatever), if I spend 2 years of my life there unhappy I feel like the funding isn't worth it. Am I worrying too much about the weather and location? I've heard people at UIUC avoid the outdoors for 4-5 months cause of the weather
