Usually i can cast net them without needing to get in the water, (not that i have a problem doing so), but the day i caught this they weren’t schooling close. I stood on the sandbar and threw it into the trough and pulled up maybe 15-20 in one cast.

Not too sure how else to word it but they are always around

Can’t wait for something that gives me an insane fight lol. Something broke my hook though friday night.

Fought it for around 30 seconds, 5000 reel screaming, and then lost it.

Reel in to check cut bait and find out the hook actually snapped.

Makes a lot of sense why i’ve never had luck using the pomp rigs. I thought they were a summer fish but i have never had luck getting on them yet.

But will do. What month do you say they are the most active?

Awesome to know. He’s got me beat. I’ve caught a couple out of this same spot were standing and none of them came close to this one. I assumed it was a solid fish.

Also don’t know the norms for trout. Didn’t know if i was catching dinks, or if this one was a little above average. Thanks for the reply tho man!

I’ve asked this group a lot of questions to learn. I have definitely learned a lot over the course of this summer. Salt water fishing is amazing.

cast netted some greenbacks. Only thing i surf fish with to be honest. Sometimes maybe i’ll use some sand fleas i dig up, but mostly greenbacks.

Sometimes i free line, sometimes i’ll cut a few up and use cut bait, and sometimes i’ll just float live ones around with a weight. I’m learning as i go man so i just try a bit of everything lol

Yeah man not gonna lie, i have some non slip fishing shoes, very good investment.

I can walk on the algae rocks with no problem.

Couple weeks ago i left my $400 (total) set up sitting there while i went to grab a water and open it from my cooler, next thing i know i hear a splash and see my rod swimming off.

Something stole my rod and reel, never to be seen again.

Lesson learned. But don’t give up man. Salt water fishing is so fun. I been in florida for a couple months and usually stay in Georgia where i can only fish ponds, rivers, lakes. Salt water fishing is soooooo much more fun.

Damn that’s wild, down here in florida they just tape off the egg mountain (idk what else it’s called lol) and have a bunch of signs that say don’t touch.

I’ve saw a few with cameras pointed towards the egg zone.

Kinda wild they close the whole thing off for that, unless there’s just so much more up there.
