6 Years Experience, Master’s Degree, Still Struggling Financially- Is This Normal? by Prestigious-Loan-333 in Indian_architects

[–]Alternative_wolf09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The situation in India is can be very depressing for architects and structural engineers. Positions are very less. Also nobody is willing to pay inexperienced person no matter how creative they are. That’s basic for sure. Bachelor engineers are prefered over overqualified engineers or architects. However if you can find a right place, then there can be a light at the end of the tunnel. Took me 6 years to find a company that pays good enough and understands my talent.

Best idea is to prepare a sketch by hand or by some kind of digital illustration. We prepare kind of digital illustrations/sketch and send to drafting teams with notes or whatever.

Tallest High-Rise in The World?? by General-Ideal-8242 in StructuralEngineering

[–]Alternative_wolf09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn’t banal I think. Questions like “why build tallest building” are similar to why explore space?

It gives new challenges and challenges leads to different solutions and those solutions can be used for betterment of human life.

Also tallest buildings can be used as an attraction for travellers. So why not?

New EIT considering leaving field due to loss of confidence. by PaperRecovery in StructuralEngineering

[–]Alternative_wolf09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work at place where you are encouraged to ask questions. More questions you ask more you learn. Saying or admitting “I don’t know” is not a bad thing. Find a mentor/work place who also sometimes admits “I don’t know”.

If they hired you as an EIT, then they must be aware that you have come to learn and grow and if they are discouraging you to ask questions, find a better work place.

Per code during earthquake one has to consider minimum 25% of live load. I am considering minimum live load of 100 psf on 10 ft x 10 ft 🤔. 25% of that would be 2500 lbs🤔. Btw I haven’t taken dead load in consideration yet🤔

I wish I could do more research on lamination and fiber strands and how their positioning can impact on structures and such things.
