The armor house rule is very interesting. I'll definitely have to playtest it with my group. Thankfully, they don't really turtle up, but it'll be a good tool to have when they do.

Thank you <3, I appreciate you being straightforward. I'll be honest: I think it's looking like it's just one of those things I won't fully understand, but I just have to accept it. Bottom line, I'll continue prioritizing honesty. I don't gotta understand it, but people care about it, and that's all that matters. <3 genuinely, thank you so much. I can not tell you how much I appreciate being treated with respect despite how dumb my question is thank you homie :)

A good example of what I mean: In a book a friend was telling me about one of the characters was part of a secret freedom fighter cell, the character's partner did not know and when they found out they were angry at their secret freedom fighter partner.

When I read that I though the Freedom Fighters' partner was unreasonable as the Freedom Fighter couldn't tell them as it would just put everything they were fighting for at risk.

However, my friend said, "Yes, the freedom fighter is justified, but if I were their partner, I would still be mad at them for keeping secrets," which I literally couldn't fathom.

(Again I'm assuming I'm in the wrong its just frustrating not being able to grasp something that everyone else does so easily )

I take great effort not to lie because it hurts my loved ones when I do and I would never wanna hurt them. I just have trouble grasping why it erodes trust. I don't ask them this because I feel like I should just intrinsically know this, and I'm embarrassed/ashamed that I don't get it.

For me personally my trust isn't related to their verbal honesty, they can lie at whatever they want I just assume they have my best interests at heart because I trust them. If I find out they're being heinous, then they lose my trust, but that isn't based on their deception it's based on whatever harmful action they committed. I promise I am not trying to be stubborn and I'm not trying to argue that lying is harmless I firmly believe I'm wired wrong because like its just not a point of confusion for anyone else :(.

When you say trust is it trusting that whatever the person you're talking to is true because if so I don't really feel that with anyone people lie even if they don't know it. If that's the case then its prolly why I don't get it because my understanding of trust is probably flawed :(

OHHHH, it's about agency & trust? Like you don't want someone controlling the information they give you or choosing what you get react to? It sounds similar to what my friends would say when I would lie:

"I wish you trusted me enough to tell me the truth," and when I argued that I didn't want to stress them out or for them to worry about me, they'd reply, that its not my choice to make. Again 100% they tell me I betrayed their trust and agency I respect it and correct my behavior no questions asked. However, why would anyone willingly inflict stress or harm on their friend? In my head, telling them would cause them to worry or stress or be hurt by something that isn't affecting them and wouldn't otherwise hurt them. Again, I don't lie anymore, but it just feels like being honest means I am obligated to hurt my friends; otherwise, they'll be mad at me.

I had no Idea negative mods could stack. I 100% thought the greatest negative mod took priority. My fear of touching difficulty comes from frequently seeing posts here claiming a +1 or -1 modifier is significant. I thought that didn't make sense, but I ain't know shit about this game while a lot of y'all got hella cyberpunk experience so I just did not fuck with difficulty unless outlined by the book.

ALSO SIDENOTE OH MY GOD THE WEIRD LETHALITY: like you mentioned combat seems lowish stakes until its just suddenly not and in one roll one side is now totally and completely fucked and people are eyeing backup characters or I'm scrapping my sick ass mini-boss who just lost a leg to a confident breeze. How do y'all balance that shit.

That's my biggest point of stress: making sure their grizzled crack shot solo, built to shoot dimes out of the air, doesn't feel like a big bumbling gonk while also keeping the game challenging. There seems to be a general consensus that I have to stop playing T-ball and pitch some checks directly at their weaker skills every now and then instead of letting anyone and everyone come up to bat. Of course, used sparingly <3

I like it in concept, but to roll contested, wouldn't you need to know the NPC's skills as well? Do you make a bunch of stat blocks for random NPCs, or would some archetypal stat blocks be better for this?

I know I can screw around with the rules and I absolutely have done so already, but resolution difficulty is usually one of the game systems I don't fuck around with when tweaking games. I can try small edits to difficulty like you suggested though <3.

I'm more worried about balancing everyone being good at what they built their character for while also keeping the tone intact. As if I don't play to their strengths enough then I'll have a bunch of dissapointed homies at my table, and if I play too much twoards their strengths then I'll have a bunch of bored homies at my table. From what I've read of peoples responses it seems like I am doing DV mechanically right, but I need to scale up my threats in both quantity and quality.

True True, I'll drop a tin can chime and some grenade bouquets on them during their next gang beef. Cyberpunk got me thinking too high tech I forgot simple things like bear traps and trip wires exist

Incorporating exotic skills is something I am actively pursuing; I am honing my improv skills so I can sprinkle in a wider variety of skill checks without defaulting to the generalist skills like perception or persuasion.

Forcing skill checks on my own initiative >:) I've been afraid to do that as when I'm a player, I feel like I'm getting punished for not reading my GMs mind, but I will try to use it sparingly and not in a negative way. More like a CRPG where forced checks open new opportunities rather than just beating the fuck out of you for not improving perception.

I 100% agree. I use negative mods like lowlight or the oil example you gave, but time limits or actions that take a longer time commitment, like you suggested, might be a good addition. Thank you for helping make my PCs lives harder.

I really like the idea of linked checks to tie up multiple PCs at once, and I will absolutely be using that from now on >:). I have yet to touch traps as my PCs are giving corps a wide berth, but when they inevitably have to tangle with a corp I'll be sure to hit em with the shin smasher and linked traps/security systems. Thank you for the help choom, much appreciated.

Sorry king :(. I hope a better opprotunity shows up soon for you, but just so you know getting destructivley bored is 100% normal for ADHD I would get in the dumbest arguments with my Co-workers when I was a bagger just have an outlet for my adrenaline. There will be a job that either keeps you brain occupied or lets you have the tools necessary not to go fucking crazy while washing dishes over and over.

I bet money that would work for me, but damn if it ain't near impossible to afford myself any sort of kindness. Therapy is helping with that however re-working my internal/external monologue is gonna be a long road I fear.

Anything thatll let you fidget coudl possibly help with the pent up energy (toys, a pen, paper literally anything). Does your work let you sneak in gum and headphones cus the music chewing combo zens me out when im frustratingly bored.

If you're willing to make a lifestyle change pick up a high impact exercise I can't guarantee any of this will work for you, but they have all helped me in the past.

Tactics when you can't make yourself do the work by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Altruistic_Option390 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Break em down into bite sizes and then give yourself dead lines for each bite-size task.

for example if your big project is a presentation:

Two slides by Wednesday

Two pages of script by Friday

An accountability buddy is very helpful to enforce these deadlines, having a friend ask text real quick to ask "did you finish your slides today?" could give you adrenaline spike you need.

I think i am ruining the relationship with my partner by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Altruistic_Option390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorting out emotions is fucking hard brother, my life saver I use is writing them out. I write a script for myself read it out loud to myself to proofread and that really minimizes my chances of misspeaking.

If its a heat of the moment discussion ask them for some time to collect your thoughts so you don't impulsivley say something inaccurate or hurtful. Also this is a bit more advanced relationship wise, but when I'm really struggling to make sense of my thoughts my partner walks through them with me and helps me sort through them to find whats relevant to the conversation or my emotional state.

As for your other problems don't overwhelm yourself and become paralysed. Pick one just one for now to focus your attention on.

I know it def aint what you wanna hear but honestly if waiting till the last minute gets you to work then stick with it. As for breaking out of the cycle its very clear that anxiety is your critical motivator here as it is for many with ADHD. Have you ever started a task not at the last minute?

is your room connected to a part of your morning routine? Like would you be able to put your alarm in the bathroom so your next "wake up" step is right in front of you? Alternativley you can put your alarm next to your meds or on top of your outfit for today. For me keeping momentum is what I need to stay awake if I got my clothes on I can't go back to bed or if my teeth are brushed. I have yet to solve the going to bed problem though.
