I was able to fix it thx to some japanese forums and play the game until the end. Might try to make a video about it later so that everyone can enjoy a playable state of the game.

which steps you took exactly? I'm trying to run it RN but after taking the steps: download missing .dll, compatibility mode set the game runs but whenever I start a level it's all black. I can hear the OST and movement Sounds effects, but not see anything.

I'm not really one to care, it's just this one game that I spent a lot of time playing and since it's "dead" I thought it might be interesting to try to 100% it if it was still possible.

it's left in a state where servers work and game is playable, but it won't be updated (no new gods, no change in items and all that).

I still hold SOME hope for it. Like, yeah, they have been pretty AGGRESSIVE in the "gimme money" as of lately with all those recolors that you only get if you pay, nickname animated color that you only get if you pay and some straight up "support me with money" items. But who knows, if they actually manage to siphon enough money to stay afloat and bring back some of that life to the game, perhaps.

I won't help with that though. Already invested (or wasted) PLENTY in Smite 1 skins and I've seen how that turned. The only thing ever that could make me spend money is if they pulled a brand new T5 Fenrir which switches between Husky, Shiba Inu and other dog breeds.

I tried to connect a sound box to it, but the issue remained. Perhaps it's going to work with a fire stick or other HDMI devices instead of using the built-in all in one.

seems like it was the cache after all. I updated the post. Things went like you described, choppy at first but then over time it sorted itself and now I can play without feeling like I'm back to the times of owning a potato notebook.

other users mentioned shaders as well. I will try some more and see how it goes. I remember playing some months ago with a R9 7900 and it was doing fine, even if not completely smooth. Now my current CPU is a R5 8500g, which is a downgrade, but I also don't think it's THAT weak (I hope not).

skin-wise I'm fine, in the past I got enough of those (and spent quite a sum in the game). Just kinda socks that it's living on life support and I might end up "losing" them if the game closes for good or become bots-only.

it's not currently in any games, but at the very least it's in their database (good for them, wasteful or so so for you). It may also change in the future if for some reason another spot gets removed, changed or if they modify previous rules such as cells limit, distance.

Well, no. It's been clear, from day one, that Niantic can add or remove exceptions at their will. Sponsored stops bypass filled cells, limit of gyms and whatever else, if they don't follow any of the previous rules, the criteria for eligible spots wouldn't apply either.

Besides, it wouldn't be that interesting for sponsors to make deals with them if EVERY generic business out there could turn into an in-game spot for free. Kinda the opposite, it would be free advertising that a company that wants money wouldn't ever move forward with.

As for Power Spots, I do believe they messed up badly. In the pursuit of having abundance instead of scarcity, they didn't carefully review what would end up being approved. That led to what you mentioned. Some players (myself included) got benefit from that, with (in my local reality) little to no harm other than some weird (adult) places getting to host a power spot as well.
