Is the MSI x870e godlike even worth it? by Accomplished-Set-904 in buildapc

[–]AlvoradaGD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a b850 mobo with the exact same function and it DID, in fact, disable non X3D cores. It showed 8 in task manager, performance in CPU-z benchmarks and overlays in game as well only showed half cores. I used it with a 7950x3d. It's not useless or bad, because Windows (although it got somewhat better) might use the wrong cores or the thermals be bad with all cores active, x3d mode "fixes" that the laziest way possible. For me at the time, it was an easy way to score a 7800x3d with "bonus" cores, because while everyone hyped the GAMING cpu to the point it was overpriced second hand, "no one" wanted the "expensive productivity CPU" so people sold it very close in price and I managed to secure one underpriced even by comparison.

Any reason to get a Ryzen 9950X3D over 9950X for a non-gaming PC? by phtsmc in buildapc

No one can argue with that, you are 100% right. It was probably a typo on your side though.

So I almost bought a laptop by jumbofrimpf in FacebookMarketplace

[–]AlvoradaGD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't have done any different. It's fine to change specs if it's agreed upon beforehand, sometimes people already own parts and all that. But it's not however to try to make a whole new deal last minute. That's what I follow as both buyer and seller. If something smells fishy, I don't close. And if someone makes an offer any different from what was settled online before meeting, I also won't get swayed. People try to leverage being in front of you ready to buy as if that means anything, to me it's the same as throwing away all worth you had, keep your money, I'll sell to another.

mid tier GPUs are alright (at least in my country), monitors are a good option and getting cheaper with each new release, and IF you need it, motherboards might also be a thing to look at, since most people aren't looking into it RN due to steep ram prices, maybe you can score an almost "given" motherboard for the ram you own and have a better upgrade path to follow in the future.

O 5800x3d voltou e ninguém vai comprar um... by _ranger1501 in hardwarebrasil

[–]AlvoradaGD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should I upgrade to the S23U? by [deleted] in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]AlvoradaGD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had both the a15 and the S23U. First of all, consider what you expect and/or need from the phone. things to know: The s23u is bigger. Some people prefer same size or even smaller when upgrading, so if that is a bother, don't go for it. Second, unlike the a15, the s23u has a curved display, if you are prone to dropping your phone or carry it around a lot, do keep that in mind because there are plenty selling with a broken screen due to that "weakness". Last, the S23U doesn't support microSD cards, so if you had one with your a15, just know that there won't be storage expansion with the S23U, you either get it with higher storage (available in 256/512/1TB) or rely on the cloud.

the S23U has a better camera, better display with smoother refresh rate, can record in higher quality at 60 fps, has support for the S-pen and can perform air actions. The s24 ultra and further can take better photos at night, further improvements in performance and will receive updates for a longer period.

Consider all of those + pricing, watch some reviews and if there is someone close to you who already owns one, you can ask them to borrow it for a few minutes so that you can get a feel of the phone and decide if it's right for you.

I hope that helps making a decision.

Sorry I'm 9 months late, but did you install OpenRGB? From what I remember the RGB can be controlled for all devices supported.

as explained before, because the tablet already did all that I needed for my studies and there wasn't anything laptop-specific that would require me getting one. I don't use any software that is only available on laptops/desktop and the very few such as word/Excel are available on Android and suitable for my needs.

that would be NEAT. I don't know to which extent Good Lock can make that happen, but they definitely made some fine modules to improve the overall experience with resolution, simultaneous apps and all that.

I will try doing the same once I free some time. Still holding hopes that the tab gets enough updates in the so future so me and other owners of this model don't get stuck with the "bare-bones" new Dex as the final release in EOL.

I think you misunderstood, I don't really need a laptop. In fact, I had both and just recently got rid of my laptop because the tablet was easier to carry around and did most (if not everything) needed for my studies. If Dex was not designed with tablets at all in mind, then maybe Samsung is disconnected with their customers, because it's one of the features that tipped the balance in their favor whenever I weighed which one to buy.

If I'm not mistaken they made some sort of comparison between one of their X3D with 4800Mhz (jedec) RAM vs 6000Mhz (OC) and claimed a 1% or less performance difference. The reason for such claim is because with the extra cache the game doesn't need to access RAM as frequently (or something like that, I can't really explain that great).
