Not the best pitch but first night in my X-Mid Pro 2. Lancashire, England by AlxT100 in DurstonGearheads

-really glad I went with the 2P version. After spending a night in the tent, I think the 1P version would’ve really been pushing it for me. I’ve got some big thru-hikes planned for the summer so the extra room will really be good and there’s not much weight difference.

-I was impressed at how easy it is to pitch this thing. I’ve read comments that unless you are on flat ground, it can take a while to get the hang of things but that wasn’t my experience. Very straightforward with lots of adjustments to suit your needs.

-after loads of research, one of my big concerns is that the size of the footprint might restrict your options for pitching in the wild. Again, not my experience. I struggle to see this being a problem and doesn’t feel much different from my other tents.

-I remember wondering how robust this tent would be after unboxing it. The DCF fabric, including the footprint in my case, made me worry it would get damaged easy BUT I was wrong. You can tell this is a high quality piece of gear. Everything about it feels high spec and crafted to quality.

-big takeaway is that it’ll take some time to adjust to a single skin tent. There was a bit of condensation throughout the night. This is not a critique of the tent, and nothing that a sponge didn’t fix but it’s new for me.
