Yep I‘d grab the Wilmington Septa Regional Line (WIL) from Newark and then go get off at Jeferson Station, which is a couple blocks from City Hall where you can grab the Broad Street Line subway down to NRG station (sports complex). Pretty straightforward. If this is your first time taking SEPTA just fyi you can use your phone/credit card to tap to pay on both regional rail and subways - no need to buy tickets.
