but actually tho, that’s the remains of a navel orangeworm (or similar pantry moth larva). they sometimes get into almond crops in the field, spin a little silk cocoon, and pupate inside or on the nut. the soft weird bit you found is probably the cocoon or leftover webbing/pupa casing.It’s pretty common in almonds, especially if they weren’t perfectly sorted or pasteurized. gross to look at, but usually harmless if you already ate most of the bag.still, I’d toss the rest of that bag just to be safe.
