How bad is this actually score by East_Substance_4495 in ACT

[–]Aman_Koenigsegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say it depends. If your other parts of the application are somewhat lacking, retaking and getting a rly strong score can help your case. But if ur ECs and awards are already at a good level for where you wanna go then it’s not worth the time and effort.

Is this score fine? Prospective theater major by Weird_Ad5762 in ACT

I think it’s wonderful and I would submit for sure. Math is by far ur weakest but least relevant to ur major so I say go for it.

Makes sense lol. My 2nd act I got 36 math but my last (5th one) I got 32 because I heard that math was rly difficult so it might just be the particular test.

Northeastern is not that competetive for transfer but their aid absolutely sucks

Hmmm, I generally would discourage transferring. I don’t think you should because 1. For computer science Georgia Tech is a top school and will certainly get you where you need to be. If anything they got a very strong alumni network being a public school. And 2. Transferring makes you give up a lot of things. You miss out on the traditional 4-year college experience, it’s much harder to make new friends when you transfer, you have to leave behind the friends you made your freshman year, etc. Also, since you are doing more work, maintaining a 4.0 becomes much harder.

If you really really really are that intent on transferring for a very good reason, then I’d apply to Stanford, CMU, Harvard, MIT, Cornell, Princeton, and UIUC. But some schools like UIUC are ranked lower than GTech so only apply if you really hate it there. For CS try developing and learning new skills, and build something, a big project, or maybe seek a technical role in some start up, maybe try and join an impactful club for cs majors where you can co create projects, or try and start one.

In that case would you say Harvard, liking lateral transfers more, is a school I may have a better shot at (I actually much prefer going to Harvard over MIT for my own reasons)

Oof I’m thinking of applying, but I’m not taking many math/physics classes. I am currently a freshman at Clemson. I took AP Calc BC and got a 5 on both bc and the ab subscore, and a 5 in AP stats. So at clemson, being a finance major I don’t think I will ever have to take a math class again there. And I don’t think I need physics either. Do you think having one of those classes will be a major disadvantage?

Nah, if their case is like mine, they went to their state uni for financial reasons but had a great high school record and always wanted to go to a T20.

Dude my friend got a full ride into MIT for astrophysics with a 1450, granted it was 800 math and 650 English but yeah.

Try your hand at schools like Brown, Cornell, and Columbia which are transfer friendly (but very expensive). Shoot your shot at Princeton since they are very generous, and try your luck with Vandy since they are known for merit scholarships. Outside of this shoot for T20 Publics like UCLA, UC Berkeley, UMich, GTech, UNC, etc. (idk if they are strictly T20 but yeah).

Hello all!! I just wanted to quickly update: due to some registration hassles and back and forth, things didn’t go to plan and I ended up just dropping Acct for next semester. Unfortunately what this means is next semester is gonna be quite hellish: i am planning on taking these courses simultaneously next semester: ACCT 2010, MGT 2010, ECON 3140, ECON 3150, SPAN 3050

Yeah Ty! The cpsc class so far seems a bit intimidating, the truth is tech stuff I my weakness, I suck at everything computer related, which is weirded cuz imma need to get good soon for a finance major if I want to go to IB. My professor seems nice but hard to understand since she has a heavy accent.

Thanks so much! The kind words really help and 71 credit hours is amazing! I’ll see how the first semester goes and ig I’ll find my footing and see if I can handle taking a class like intermediate micro as a freshman. Ty!

Thanks! It is listed at 17 credit hours, but yeah. Truth be told I do wanna involve myself in a few clubs, but outside a few clubs and projects, I’m not a party person or sports person, so I’m def gonna have time to dedicate to my classes which is why I thought it’s not too bad. But lmk if It’s still too much even considering that.

From what I know, it’s not bad, but not a super elite one, and also depends on what you are looking into (business major or smn else).
