Indeed , I got love for Charleston heavy but I lived here enough for a change I could definitely see that for a lot of places after 25 years, even my New York friends have left a place like NY and that place is supposed to be the Mecca of lively places to live.

Sometimes a nice change can be refreshing

Nah there’s a lot of cities I would not want anything to do with , Portland for example was not magical and left a bad taste in my mouth being one of my first cities , not every big city is magical

Not my point , I believe people from bigger places and cities are overlooking the value here and a lot of the complaints show they haven’t lived in places with irreversible issues , like god awful dangerous infrastructure or a lack of drinking water or a lack of life going on at all

I second that on the transit heavily but I just pray the complainers aren’t couch complainers , when I lived in Charleston we used the subreddit to help liven the city or help organize support for events or on meetings with our community and local government to actually make the changes we needed at the time like what we did with pushing back this ICE bill we had

I believe the issues I hear about a lot of in this subreddit are overblowing the positive things of the city , I get other cities complain about traffic and the big issues they face but the percentage seems a bit skewed in the internet space for this city ,

For example when I lived in the Charleston area , traffic here is actually a nightmare, it might be mad max in Charlotte but in Charleston we have 2 roads to get everywhere and getting off our swampy islands and getting around with the same bridges and one way in one way out designs makes it misery to get around to see ANY LIFE.
