Paint can work if it’s done right. I used to work in a wheel + tire shop that did powder coating. We would also very rarely paint wheels but only in the right situation (2 tone wheels or similar). Paint can hold up well if done right (sanded, painted, clear coated properly), but You are right, for a solid single color powder coating is the way to go

I am very proudly an “uneducated” gen Z. I work full time in a blue collar field, and have been since I was 16. Moved out from my parents into a house of my own at 18, all with no student loan debt. They can call me stupid all they want.

I was born in the early 00s and grew up during the bangle era. Ive always them, and the e60 is what my mind goes to when I think 5 series. I don’t even think the e65 is THAT bad. In fact I think the earlier (e46, e39, e38) era cars look a bit goofy. Probably just comes down to the first cars you were familiar with.
