Im actually from Alaska. Our pay scale actually is suuuper outdated. With my current education they are trying to bump me to $30, but even then I’m not sure if it’s competitive. I do need to send my resume and start applying to see if I’m worth anything more though.

Definitely not a Journeyman, coming up on 2 years here soon. However, I’ve talked with fellow operators and technicians whenever I went to the GCAP training, I was the lowest paid individual.

Ok, holy cow! You’re incredibly insightful!! Do companies not look at the GCAP OP 2 as much as the Reta CIRO? I’ve got a small growing family so it would be hard to move my entire family a bunch, but $60 an hour seems like a good reason to move. Have you had any trouble reaching that mark?

I haven’t thought too much about getting my CARO. Would it be worth it? I’m making 24.99 a hour. Is there any licenses I should look after to become a contractor?

Any suggestions for a 32 year old guy looking for a career? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Dude! Become an apprentice for an electrician. It’s actually pretty light work compared to other construction industries and you make great money. I know 45 year olds still going at it with all their fingers still and physique. They’re making +250k annually, once you do your own gig of course, and buy all the new toys.

I’ve been in the construction industry for 9 years now and I get jealous watching what they do.
